The White House condemned Monday the vandalism of a Catholic church by what appeared to be supporters of legal abortion, but indicated sympathy for their cause.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that protests should be peaceful, criticizing reports of angry protesters vandalizing a Catholic church and a pro-life organization.
“We have seen it at Catholic churches, that’s unacceptable,” she said. “The president does not support that.”
The headquarters of the pro-life group Wisconsin Family Action in Madison, Wisconsin was vandalized and set on fire Sunday, and remnants of a Molotov cocktail were discovered.
Last week, a Catholic church in Boulder, Colorado, was repeatedly vandalized with spray-painted messages reading “My Body My Choice” and “Abortion Saves Lives.”
Psaki said the president did not condone the violence.
“We know the passion, we understand the passion, we understand the concern,” she said, referring to the perpetrators and their apparent support for legal abortion.
Psaki continued dodging questions about whether the president opposed pro-abortion activists surrounding the homes of Supreme Court justices.
She acknowledged that protests took place in a “range of places,” and called for the protests to be peaceful.
“We’re not here to give tactical advice to protesters,” she added to reporters.

So, in other words, it is OK.
Just like the passion of the 2021 Capitol protesters, Jen.
The fact the WH even tries to speak about the issue says a lot.
The “optics” in DC is just horrible.
The press really amped up the nonsense with Trump, took things to a new level. The baseline it such that we will probably see more comments about the obvious.
The WhiteHouse has serious problems identifying issues and problems overall. Let alone understand the citizens who oppose this destruction.
So sick of these people framing happenings as if they’re ok.
It’s a hate crime.
So Biden said there are good people on both sides?
It is quintessentially understandable that they would burn and destroy to express their passion. Abortion is the most quintessential act of destruction possible: the destruction of innocent human life.
If Trump said “The attack on the Capital on Jan 6 was ‘Unacceptable’ but ‘We Understand the Passion’”.....
“Very fine people on both sides,” And that hoax is foundational for Dementia Joe, like the Angelo from Amtrak story... and his days as a trucker ... and his father’s ahead-of-his-time lectures about gay rights ... or the drank-his-lunch drunk driver who took out half his family.
The “White House”, sympathy for the devil...
Abortion is their sacrament
“Passion” from the left - we understand.
“Passion” from the right - insurrection.
When they burn down Biden’s 3 homes we find it unacceptable but we understand the passion.
Reminds me of my Mississippi home and the Democrats there. They were passionate about a lot of things that were wrong.
That’s unacceptable (wink wink).
Yeah, not my personal belief, but I must go with the people.
