On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that he’s never “thought life itself was particularly precious.” And “life is for the living. Until you’re born, you’re not living. I mean, yes, it’s becoming a life, but it’s not. And we wouldn’t miss you if you’re not born.”

Is that wrong?
This may be the most unsurprising thing I read all day!
Hard to grasp that level of ignorance.
He might possibly have an argument if he wanted to struggle with a definition of “person”, but the cells are alive from the moment of conception, they are recognizably human and unique from a genetic standpoint. They aren’t “becoming” anything — they already “are”.
Massive denial of reality in order to gain political points. A quick look at premature babies disproves what he is saying.
I guess that's good. One less liberal progtard breathing the same air as the rest of us.
This is a monumentally ignorant remark.
I wonder what his definition of death is.
What do you expect from a guy that needs a jockstrap for his nose.
Agree.
I'm still working on my first cup of coffee.
Haven't uncrossed my eyeballs yet, apparently.
I need second cup. Now WHERE did I leave that
Keurig machine? Oh, yes, on the kitchen counter.
Right!
Why would he? Democrat in a nutshell.
This time I noticed that the room had many vessels of various sizes on the floor and on the shelves. They contained body parts of various sizes...because it was a major hospital that also did a lot of research. The large containers contained hearts, lungs, livers, etc. The smaller ones contained eyes and other things.
One container caught my eye.It was a jar that looked a lot like a large pickle or mayonnaise jar.It was clear glass and was filled with a clear fluid (formalin I assume...a preservative). In the jar were 5 or 6 tiny babies...no bigger than my thumb. This was before Roe v Wade so I assume they were miscarriages. All of them were perfectly formed and couldn't be mistaken for anything but tiny little human beings. The one image I still have in my brain is noticing that one of the babies needed his/her fingernails clipped.
It's an image that will remain with me until the day I die.
Bill Maher
He’s like a god or something.
Ubiquitous and omnipresent.
What doesn’t he know?
Bill Maher has stated that he doesn't read and that he gets his "information" from television.
“he’s never “thought life itself was particularly precious.””
I don’t believe Maher is not alone in thinking this way.
Life is an extremely complex phenomenon regardless of one’s religious beliefs. Maher is quite shallow to make such a simplistic statement.
What an awful person.
My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. Second, third, and fifth survived.
The fourth pregnancy/second miscarriage was particularly hard. At eight weeks we were celebrating a heartbeat. At 12 weeks, we had a picture of our little one. At 16 weeks, I knew something awful had happened, as I no longer sensed life inside me. I called my OBGYN and made an appointment, but that night the labor pains and bleeding started. When I got to the hospital, I told the ultrasound technician that my baby was gone. His soul had left his body.
There was no heartbeat.
I gave birth to him two days later.
I grieve the loss of those two children, knowing that my family on Earth is not complete. I love all of my children and am proud that God let me be their mom. He gave me amazing, smart, loving, wonderful kids.
That is the difference. I see their lives as precious and their souls worthy of protection. And contrary to what this idiot thinks, I absolutely do miss the ones who are not here.
If life is not particularly precious lets see a suicide stick his head in a bucket of water to drown.
You can’t do it as though the mind wants to die, the body will fight to live.
As the muses in XANADU sang when they became alive....
I’m alive
And the world shines for me today
I’m alive
Suddenly I am here today
Seems like forever (and a day),
Thought I could never (feel this way)
Is this really me?
I’m alive
I’m alive
I’m alive
