Abortion adds to Biden’s all-but-impossible to-do list

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s list of impossible tasks keeps getting longer.

Despite lofty promises he’s made, from the campaign trail through his first year in office, he has limited power to safeguard voting rights or expand the fight against climate change on his own.

And now it’s become clear that Biden has no good options for preserving abortion access as the Supreme Court appears poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

It’s a disorienting and discouraging state of affairs for Democrats, who control both Congress and the White House for the first time in more than a decade.

Perhaps the most succinct explanation came from Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., earlier this week.

“We’re stuck,” she said.

“ he has limited power to safeguard voting rights or expand the fight against climate change on his own.”

I remember a time when voting occurred on one day called, “Election Day.”

When the SCOTUS issues a decision, IN A COUPLE MONTHS, abortion is not automatically illegal. This country and it’s media is full blown ignorant to stupid. “Overturning” Roe V Wade simply puts the legislative power to regulate, restrict, allow, etc. BACK in the authority of the individual states.

Post birth abortion will still be legal in California, New York, etc. There will be states that will pass laws regarding restrictions on abortion. That will now be allowed because the SCOTUS has set new precedence.

Dems can try to pass a national bill that protects doctors from prosecution, etc.

What, why can't he threaten, cajole, demean, bemoan, and act sinister toward the Judicial Branch?

Maybe he should try convincing women to not get pregnant unless they plan on keeping the baby.

Being Catholic, or so he would apparently have us believe, he can pass on better counsel than that.

Not that I expect that to happen, unfortunately.

Uh, we don’t know what the “Opinion” will be after a couple of months of marxist “resistance”.

California figured out how to get around election laws and the DNC followed.

Also Biden should try convincing men to also not impregnate anyone unless they plan on paying child support for 18 years.

Honestly I think many young men are simply not aware of this result.

if the left believes abortion should be a constitutional right, they are welcome to attempt to pass a constitutional amendment, instead of relying on the supreme court to “create” it for them out of thin air thus forcing conservatives to pass an amendment to get rid of it.

They mean Dementia Joe has limited power to steal elections, after red/swing states passed tough new anti ballot fraud laws to thwart the Dem election stealers.

IF the draft Supreme Court ruling becomes law, not one abortion will be prevented by the ruling. The choice to allow/disallow abortion goes back to the people where it belongs.

Am I misreading this is is AP writing like the an agent to Biden’s reelection campaign? Just comes across very sympathetic to poor Biden’s woes and all the good he is trying to do.

I feel this is the wedge issue the Democrats have been looking for. Economy sucks and everyone knows it. But can they make the midterms about abortion? I don’t know how the average moderate thinks on this issue? At least not in the USA - in Canada our residents sadly embrace a system of murder.

Pro-Life is coming around. In 1900, abortion was a crime in ALL STATES. We’re getting there.
