Ron DeSantis doubles down and insists Disney WILL have to pay its $2BN debts after entertainment conglomerate claimed Florida would be on the hook if special privileges are revoked

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has insisted Disney will have to pay its own debts after the conglomerate claimed the state would have to foot its $2billion bill for bond tax if its special status is removed.

'Disney will pay its debts,' DeSantis told a townhall in Orlando with Fox News' 'The Ingraham Angle', garnering loud applause.

'Disney will, for the first time, actually live under the same laws as everybody else in Florida. Imagine that.'

Host Laura Ingraham asked DeSantis if Disney was correct in claiming that there was a clause in their original contract that stipulates the state is responsible for its $2 billion bond debt if its special privilege's are revoked.

'There's going to be additional legislative action. We've contemplated that,' DeSantis said. 'We know what we're going to do. And so stay tuned. That will all be apparent. The bonds will be paid by Disney, they will be paying taxes, probably more taxes.'

ASSETS and liabilities.....

Yes. Roads, water and sewer, electrical grid, undeveloped property, fire fighting services, all infrastructure improvements go to the county and state. And the state pays nothing for them, so it stands to reason that they also assume liabilities.

The election could flip the Senate. It probably won't...but it could. DeSantis could also lose.

Dream on.
None of that is going to happen. DeSantis will win comfortably. And Republicans will continue to control the legislatures. It won't even be close.

ASSETS ASSETS ASSETS....Take what you need to pay off the debt. The order in which you take them will probably come into play.

But will Disney now be paying taxes, which they didn’t before? Since they were their own governing entity, they didn’t pay various local property taxes and other taxes, did they? Since they were the government?

We all need a better more complete picture of unraveling all the financial ramifications of this.

which may explain Disme is backing Crist. The recent poll numbers shows Desantis by a wide margin even with Dems.

Yup - and the state can give the local governments money to cover the debt. The local governments can then rent the assets back to Disney, preferably at the same rate as everyone else pays for commodities (roads, utilities) or at “market adjusted” rates for unique properties (buildings and attractions.)

Disney’s problem is not the state of Florida. It’s the fact that a huge part of it’s audience and park attendees are canceling their trips to the park.

Disney is a California corporation and a guest in the state of Florida. Much of it’s park attendance comes from Florida residents.

They pick the wrong hill to die on........

Disney is more world about current park attendance than Ron DeSantis and the Florida legislature. If park attendance drops in a big way, the financial hit could really cripple the corporation.

Iā€™m pretty sure this legislation was fully vetted by the legislatureā€™s counsel, governorā€™s counsel, the attorney generalā€™s office, and most importantly the stateā€™s outside bond counsel. Itā€™s surprisingā€¦or is itā€¦how many are swallowing Disneyā€™s propaganda, probably without ever having read the debt instrument or the enabling legislation.

“...get him out of the spot...”

Not sure he should be in the spot. He has been very controversial with his actions in Florida and hasn’t beat them at their game, public opinion. One of the major differences with Trump and DeSantis is that Trump had no political baggage thus didn’t care what anyone thought. It wasn’t until after Trump got in that they started the character (sorry about that) assassination and it took four years of lies to create even a small assessment of dishonesty. So Trump wouldn’t play the game. DeSantis will as he has already started with political moves that open the door to the trained dog media to cut him a new one. And by taking on everyone’s favorite in Disney, he is leading himself to the exits whether he’s right or wrong.

The GOP needs to get someone to beat them at their game, not compete with them at it. And it has to be someone that is willing to take the hit with a clean past that CNN can’t make stick.

Are you in Florida? DeSantis will easily be re-elected. By the time he runs for president the Disney episode will be ancient history in political terms. Besides, heā€™s likely to come out if it just fineā€¦.

“By the time he runs for president the Disney episode will be ancient history...”

You may not want to put your pink slip on that unless you figure he won’t run for 30 to 40 years. When the liberals go after someone they will go back many years in the past to find trash. I’ll keep it at Trump to lesson the list as he was in the same position.

Amy Dorris, a former model who told The Guardian that Trump forcibly kissed and groped her at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in 1997

Jessica Leeds alleged that Trump groped her on an airplane in the late 1970s

Kristin Anderson told The Washington Post that Trump put his hand up her skirt to her underwear in the early 1990s

Jill Harth said she had dinner with Trump and her then-boyfriend, George Houraney, in 1992 when Trump allegedly tried to put his hands between her legs

Temple Taggart was the 21-year-old Miss Utah when she participated in the Miss USA contest in 1997. She said Trump, who owned the pageant at the time, kissed her “directly on the lips

Karena Virginia, a New York-area yoga instructor, said Trump approached her in 1998 outside the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York while she was awaiting a car service, made unseemly comments about her appearance, grabbed her arm and groped her breast

Mindy McGillivray told The Palm Beach Post that Trump grabbed her rear end while she was working as a photographer’s assistant at a 2003 event at Mar-a-Lago

Rachel Crooks, a secretary who worked in Trumpā€™s building, told The New York Times that when she first met Trump in 2005, he shook her hand, then kissed her on the cheeks and then on the lips, while outside an elevator at Trump Tower in New York City.

Natasha Stoynoff, a writer for People magazine, said Trump inappropriately touched her in 2005 when she was at Mar-a-Lago for an interview timed to coincide with the first anniversary of his marriage to Melania Trump

Adult film star Jessica Drake said Trump kissed her and two other women without their consent in 2006

Other women to have filed for sexual allegations are Ninni Laaksonen, Summer Zervos , Cassandra Searles, E. Jean Carroll, and a few underaged girls from 1992 and their names were not findable. And this is not near all of it.

This is just one topic, on a presidential candidate, starting release in 2015 years before the election and of which some supposedly happened at least as much as 25 years prior. DeSantis slapped Disney. There will be trash about him from when he crowded in a line to get graham crackers in kindergarten.

DeSantis might reelected in Florida, but when he steps up to the big people, and the libs want his veranda, he’ll be toast. Remember, it doesn’t have to be the truth, just said.

DeSantis does what he thinks is right for the job he has now: governor of Florida. He isnā€™t maneuvering for what might happen years from now. Weā€™re pretty happy with that approach. Believe me, the left has had five years to smear him and nothing has happened. If youā€™re talking about them fabricating scandals, well, theyā€™re going to do that regardless of how he governs, so why shouldnā€™t he do what he believes is right for the citizens of Florida?
