Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has insisted Disney will have to pay its own debts after the conglomerate claimed the state would have to foot its $2billion bill for bond tax if its special status is removed.

'Disney will pay its debts,' DeSantis told a townhall in Orlando with Fox News' 'The Ingraham Angle', garnering loud applause.

'Disney will, for the first time, actually live under the same laws as everybody else in Florida. Imagine that.'

Host Laura Ingraham asked DeSantis if Disney was correct in claiming that there was a clause in their original contract that stipulates the state is responsible for its $2 billion bond debt if its special privilege's are revoked.

'There's going to be additional legislative action. We've contemplated that,' DeSantis said. 'We know what we're going to do. And so stay tuned. That will all be apparent. The bonds will be paid by Disney, they will be paying taxes, probably more taxes.'

So change the law.

That appears to be what DeSantis is proposing to do.

Yep. The board is probably telling everyone in Disney to “shut up”. Then they’ll work things our with DeSantis while appeasing their LGBT employees.

Depends on who wins.

Regardless of who wins.

In sum, the local governments would be responsible for the debts of the Reedy Creek entity - BUT it would also take over ownership of the entity's assets.
That makes more sense. Whomever owns the debt controls the assets and will be expected to charge rent or impose some fees to retire that debt over time.

No, the ramifications will be far different depending on who wins.

Give your wins away.

DeSantis signed into law the protection of young children from the influence of Pedos and Groomers.

Disney responded by pledging the full power of their own legal infrastructure to target both DeSantis and Florida Law.

Disney is now threatening to not pay their 2 billion in debt, and they are also making false allegations that local taxes will go up.

Disney better watch their slimy steps at this point, as anyone in his right mind is FURIOUS at all of these vile actions from them.

In a perfect world, the pedos and groomers at Disney would all slither back to California, pay their 2 billion due to Florida, and Florida would sell the park properties to Nintendo and Sony for a reset on family and child friendly experiences in Orlando.

If this was a serious threat then they wouldn't have delayed it going into effect until the summer of 2023.

And trump was suppose to win the last election.

The election could flip the Senate. It probably won’t...but it could. DeSantis could also lose.

“It may be worth to write off the loss, just to reset to zero and move forward.”

Not sure they can. The original bond setup was also part of the EPCOT creation, Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, and was supposed to be an actual city, with people living in it, and using the latest technology within the city like moving sidewalks. The bond did include Reedy Creek but the money being dished out was far more than for that area and was part of other projects and the contractual obligations state that the debt is not finished until it is paid back. And back in 1967 Florida wanted the tourism so bad they miswrote the agreement to put it almost completely in Disney control until they and their investors are satisfied.

It’s not meant to be a RINO response, but more like a “FU Disney, we will move forward with the new arrangement regardless of the cost of doing so” response.

It is possible that Dems push Desantis for POTUS to get him out of the spot. Yes, a GOP would take over for him but not sure she would be as formidable.

They may sacrifice 2024. Disney may be the behind the scenes impetus.

I think we’d have to see the agreement. You can’t just wish your debts away. And there are plenty of flawed agreements.

But he can run on his bill that punishes Disney. It's passed and the election is only six months away. What happens after that doesn't impact the political picture.

Floridians who want to go to Disney should get
free passes if Disney doesn’t pay its debt.

Check post 16.

You can’t just wish your debts away.

They don't. By if Reedy Creed is dissolved by the state then all the assets and liabilities go to the county and the state.

And there are plenty of flawed agreements.

Indeed. This appears to be one of them.
