Shares of Netflix cratered more than 23% on Tuesday after the company reported a loss of 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter. It’s the first time the streamer has reported a subscriber loss in more than a decade.

The company also said it expects the losses to continue, forecasting a global paid subscriber loss of 2 million for the second quarter.

For one thing, they lost a lot of people from Ukraine and Russia for obvious reasons. That’s at least 200K there.

I canceled my Netflix subscription last year after I realized that all I ever watched on Netflix was occasional old episodes of Star Trek (original series). Their original programming is almost entirely unwatchable garbage - I did see a few episodes of Luke Cage and it had some potential, but they promptly canceled it.

Netflix has lost all of their Star Trek streaming rights to Paramount+, and all of their Marvel streaming rights to Disney+ and all of their DC comics streaming rights to HBOMax. With every major movie company now running their own streaming video service, about all Netflix has left is their crappy original programming.

I know. I live a few minutes away from it. But that’s where they do business, I’ve never heard of them making movies there. And they never did fulfillment there, either.

Oh I get it. He’s a department director, not a movie director.

Haha, I was just reading this:

https://noqreport.com/2022/04/19/netflix-stock-cratered-after-report-of-plummeting-subscribers-for-which-they-blame-russia/

Netflix Stock CRATERED After Report of Plummeting Subscribers, for Which They Blame . . . RUSSIA

“The company said that the suspension of its service in Russia and the winding-down of all Russian paid memberships resulted in a loss of 700,000 subscribers. Excluding that impact, the company said it would have seen 500,000 net additions during the most recent quarter.”

1. Deemphasis on first run movies
2. Emphasis on Netflix-produced garbage (overwhelmingly)
3. Ratings: Gone (seemingly to buffer critique of their own productions)
4. Charge subscribers more for their errors
5. Replace ratings with the moronic “thumbs up”

And they wonder why they’re losing subscribers in a competitive environment?

When Netflix took on Susan Rice, Obama, and Moochelle, I haven't wished any good towards them.

Companies like Netflix (and Twitter) are not run to make money.

They are run SOLELY to “control the narrative”.

Ditto garbage like SNL, network “news” and every late night “comedian” you can name.

If anyone happens to own Netflix, Twitter, NBC, Disney, etc stock and still hasn’t sold it - for the love of God and all that’s Holy, dump that garbage pronto!!

Fortunately, many have figured out what the game is at this point and are no longer listening to any of it. And that is likely why Netflix now and Disney, Twitter, etc are likely to TANK in the months ahead. (Twitter stock, interestingly, has gone NOWHERE since their IPO in 2013. Yet the BOD won’t sell the company to Musk. That right there tells everyone it’s not being run to make money - it’s being run to control the narrative).

probably their biggest problem is that netflix has run out of watchable content ... most of their original series are excrement, and most of the old movies and tv shows they’re digging up aren’t any better ...

“Maybe go with prime.”

i originally got prime back when it was first offered because i buy so much stuff for my business (and household), and still make my annual fee back in free shipping in less than a month ...

i’ve thus always considered prime streaming to be a freebee ... prime also has a massive pay-to-buy-or rent library, but it’s inexpensive, ESPECIALLY compared the cost in time and money to go to a theater just to watch the latest woke dreck and especially for two or more watching and eating your own food and drink and temporarily pausing at will ...

I watched a turkish show named “Black Money Love”, it was pretty good, much better than a lot of stuff America U.S is putting out these days. Plan on watching more turkish shows, was told ‘Resurrection’ is pretty good.

We ended our Netflix when the Obamas were invited in. With T-Mobile cells we get it free (I know; we’re paying in some way), but there isn’t much on. Longmire reruns once in a while and that’s about it.

Netflix raised prices to the point people got fed up and cancelled their subscriptions.

There's just too much competition and they gave people a reason to cancel.

Don't give people a reason to cancel. I dumped Disney+ after they tried to virtue signal against Florida's recent anti-grooming bill. It was easy to do because we never watched it.

There's so much competition now and for a lot less than Netflix is charging. Heck, you can get HBOMax for $14.99, five bucks less than Neflix with a lot better programming.
