Rep. Thomas Massie: Rule treads on Constitution, congressional powers
President Biden’s planned crackdown on “ghost guns” received vocal pushback Monday from GOP lawmakers who said it will have little impact on crime and treads on the Second Amendment.
“Biden’s gun grab is coming,” the House Judiciary Committee tweeted Monday in a snapshot of GOP messaging on the effort the president will announce at the White House along with his nomination of Steve Dettelbach, a former U.S. attorney, to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Justice Department will publish a final rule on ghost guns — untraceable weapons made from kits — that would classify the components used to make them as firearms requiring serial numbers to aid in tracking them.
Specifically, the rule targets “buy build shoot” kits that people can purchase online or at a store without a background check and “can readily assemble into a working firearm in as little as 30 minutes with equipment they have at home,” a White House fact sheet said.
Under the new rule, manufacturers who sell the kits would need to be licensed and would be required to run background checks on potential buyers of the kits.
Rep. Thomas Massie, Kentucky Republican and a vocal advocate for gun owners, said Mr. Biden is trying to exercise powers he doesn’t possess.
“The Constitution does not authorize the federal government to prevent you from making your own firearm. This [is] a fact that has been recognized for 200+ years. Also, Article 1, Section 1 (literally the first operative sentence in the Constitution) says Congress makes law, not POTUS!” Mr. Massie tweeted.

How ironic: a mail-order resident in chief talking about mail-order guns.
The jokes just continually write themselves with this bunch of clowns...
Cantucky long Rifle,

I’m much more worried about all the “ghost voters” who voted in 2020.
Come and get it Jojo
364 page rule but try to figure out if you are in violation of this is you sell a rear loaded black powder pistol or rifle
Do authorities - agents of The State - get to keep their guns?
Do they want to keep their guns so that they can protect themselves when faced with dangerous situations?
Great.
Ordinary citizens also want to protect themselves in dangerous situations, like threats to themselves, their families, and their homes, and that is why the Second Amendment affirms the natural right of self-defense in the form of the enumerated right to keep and bear arms.
When does this new decree from Emperor Poopy Pants go into effect?
He also used that same simple quip that people were not allowed to own cannons during the Revolutionary War - he uses that as an example to show that we’ve always had “common sense” regulations of “weapons of war.”
It’s also patently false, so much so that he’s not just ignorant of history, but a flat-out liar.
Gonna have to register all lathes and mills eventually.
Manufacturers who sell the kits would need to conduct background checks.
Since I’m not a manufacturer, it would appear I can sell them all day long to anybody with cash to pay for them.
Biden’s puppeteers are catering to one of their core constituencies.
The unintended consequence is that they’ll piss off a much, MUCH bigger constituency.
Just how ignorant does one have to be, to be a Democrat?
It has never in the history of this nation been unlawful, illegal or otherwise prohibited for private individuals to manufacture firearms for personal use.
The Gun Control Act of 1968 requires all firms engaged in the commerce of firearms manufacture to affix a serial number to their firearms. It places no such requirements on individuals manufacturing firearms for their own use.
This amounts to an attempt to create law by executive fiat, which amounts to a violation of separation of powers and is strictly Unconstitutional.
Just saw some pix of Jo Jo’s new ATF Head Gestapo. No, not a 400 pound pancake lady mommy figure. A real Walking Dead Dildo Walker.
Rules exist to be broken while laws are supposed to be obeyed.
“Aim Small-Miss Small.”
