Who remembers when CNN, Fox News, and the rest of their cronies in corporate media opposed Neo-Nazis? In fact, calling a Trump supporter (or even President Trump himself) a Nazi was a common practice for regular guests of the most progressive news outlets, including CNN. But with Neo-Nazis making up large chunks of the Ukrainian military, everyone’s suddenly supposed to be okay with it.
Here’s Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledging that the Neo-Nazi Azov Battalion has “fully integrated” with the Ukrainian military:

We should send in plenty of soldiers into western Ukraine where there are no Russian boots on the ground fighting. That would free up Uke guys to fight in the east.
We should also set up a volunteer force for any American soldier who wants to fight in the east. We would have a lend-lease program for American emBASEeees in exchange for the help.

***Russia didn’t invade Russia, they invaded Ukraine. Interestingly enough this Russia-invades-Russia concept is much more applicable to Taiwan where it will be China-invades-China. Because Taiwan never did declare independence from China whereas Ukraine declared independence in 1991 and the Russians even agreed to the borders in 1994.

When your country is invaded, and you are seriously out-gunned, and your country faces an existential threat, you don’t get too picky over who helps you fight off that threat. Just as the Russians are not so picky with whom they ally (Chechen moslems who not too long ago slaughtered numerous innocent children at a school in Beslan). I mean, if Russia — as an invader! — can ally itself with such people, you can’t criticize Ukraine if it has a few hundred tattooed storm troopers fighting on its side. It’s called relativism.

Lots of people are calling them “Nazis” without being really explicit about what the Azov people actually are doing, or what their belief system is.
What specific beliefs or attitudes make them Nazi? If they were anti-Semites, I doubt that Ukraine’s Jewish president would be OK with them.
The reverse is also true. Many Ukraines fought with the Nazis to expel the Stalinists. The 1930s was an especially brutal time under Stalin (e.g., the artificial famine, the purges and show trials, the mass arrests, the rise of the gulags).
The Donbas region is separatist and wishes to break away from Ukraine and merge with Russia. What's happening there is akin to the US Civil War of 1861-65.
