I bet many Eastern European countries occupied by the nazis fought on the side of the stalinists to expel Germany.

The reverse is also true. Many Ukraines fought with the Nazis to expel the Stalinists. The 1930s was an especially brutal time under Stalin (e.g., the artificial famine, the purges and show trials, the mass arrests, the rise of the gulags).

The weird thing is how short the Uke and Ruke memory is on the holodomor. It is very similar to the battered woman’s syndrome. Ukraine is Russia’s battered woman.
