I disagree
Putin is hesitant to squash the remains of the Uke army encamped with civilians in urban areas cause he knows the howl that would provoke
He’s defeated them ....despite all the nonsense the media repeats spoonfee them
But I see this as problematic for him
It was a strategic smart move of the Zelenskygarchs but carries a very high risk
This could mean an invasion on the ground in Kiev rather an air and artillery to coerce surrender
It’s a Russian tactic used against them

Ukraine doesn’t have a chance militarily in the long term. We said the same about the Vietcong.
Wars are won on the field of battle, and lost on CBS*, or in Congress, or the Duma.
*The Vietcong were astonished when The Most Trusted Man In America™ announced that the US lost the Tet offensive. The Vietcong thought they had lost the offensive so badly they the war was over, America won!

“Ukrainian government pushed them right into an invasion. I don’t agree with the invasion, but a blind monkey could see it coming.”
An opinion that I do not share.

The rest of the Russian tanks will arrive in Kyiv any year now.
After fuel supplies are brought in.
After food supplies are brought in.
After tires are replaced.
After deserters are replaced.

You’re right. 120°C, would be a little too ‘mild’! After I posted it, I realized I’d put ‘Celsius’ instead of ‘Fahrenheit’. I still think in Imperial measures, but living in PRC (Politically Repressive Canada), everything is Metric.

What did Ukraine do that compelled the Russians to invade.

Chances are this is smoke and mirrors. I’m hearing the Russians have achieved most of their objectives already.

I would like to agree with you, but it looks like Putin’s kill em all attitude is winning the battles.

Putin seems focused on taking Kiev, as forward motion in the south has stalled.
Russian columns seem to be getting into Kiev from the north, but the Ukrainians may simply be channeling them into kill boxes. Hard to tell yet.

I may be wrong, but I think the US Javelins and the British-Swedish NLAW anti-tank missiles are having an effect on Russian armoured columns.
Both are great against tanks. The Javelin has a longer range, but is heavier than an NLAW and around 5 times more expensive. The NLAW can be operated by one person and is very effective. Can be carried on a quad or even a motorbike.
