A small but impassioned group of Twitter users are urging Elon Musk to deactivate all Teslas in Russia.
The calls come in the wake of the country's continuing attack on Ukraine, which began on February 24.
In a series of tweets to the tech mogul, several users asked Musk to "turn off every single Tesla in Russia."
One said: "Please turn off and deactivate all Tesla's in Russia. It's absolutely disgusting what Russia is doing and Putin has to be stopped."
Another requested the deactivation as a sort of "tech embargo" on Russia.
Musk, however, is yet to respond to the requests. Tesla did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside of normal working hours.
Since Russia conducted a "special military operation" on Ukraine, Musk has been helping Ukrainians by providing them with internet access. Refugees can also access free charging for both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles in neighboring countries.
Last week, the SpaceX founder said he was providing Ukraine with the Starlink satellite service after the military action disrupted internet service across the country.
Musk responded to a request from a Ukrainian government official for Starlink, saying it "is now active in Ukraine" with "more terminals en route."

I want a car that can be remotely turned off...
When you have to routinely drive 200 miles to get to ailing parents in a very rural environment, an electric car is a really dumb idea. (We are living with reality, here; not liberal pie-in-the-sky.)
Maybe it’s nice for well-off people who live and only drive in cities. I guess the rest of us can just eat cake, after they accomplish their ‘green revolution’.
Get ready for kill switches coming to all cars sold in the U.S. per the Infrastructure Bill.
If they haven’t already built that feature into gasoline cars, they will shortly.
They may hate Russia but they would still buy a Tesla; IT’S FOR DA ERF YOU KNOW!
Many faithful Party members went up against the wall, unbelieving.
"Whaddaya mean, you're freezing my bank account and shutting off my electric car? I'm a Good Party member!"
The left never stops to realize that they themselves are the very reason we don’t want what they have to offer.
Not the 3g ones :) not this week
Everybody has a different situation.
I agree with both of you.
He shouldn’t, who would want a Tesla after that?
Right. Because disabling Teslas in Russia will absolutely stop the Russian advance.
What MORONS there are on the left and assistant left.
God, save us from Stupid!
They wanted him to turn off Russian news broadcasts on the Starlink broadband internet system he had provided to Ukraine. He said he wouldn't do it unless it was at gunpoint, so I highly doubt he'd agree to deactivate Tesla's in Russia.
You’re probably right. He should turn off the cars of people demanding this.
Turning off paid-for Tesla cars simply as political virtue signaling would be egregious breach of contract. Unless Musk was clever enough to insert some enabling language in the Tesla sales contracts, to the effect of, “we may turn off your car at our whim and you will have no recourse”.
I seriously doubt it though.
Good idea. Hassle Russians who have nothing to do with Putin, perhaps even oppose him now, and make them nationalistic against the West.
I dont think he cares. I paid for starlink the better part of a year ago and couldnt get it until “mid 2022” because there werent enough terminals and something about needing to launch more satellites to start providing service that far North (45degrees). Now he suddenly has enough terminals and can provide Kiev at 50degrees? Im a payed customer and Im still sitting here without.
payed? paid. Its too late, Im heading to bed.
Imagine a future where your social credit score is too low to be allowed to drive your car or even leave the house. Coming soon courtesy of the new covid-ID chip overlords.
