Vladimir Putin wants to seize all of Ukraine and "worse is to come" during the conflict, the French president has warned.
Emmanuel Macron held talks with Mr Putin over the phone this afternoon in a bid to ease tensions between Russia and the West.
According to French officials, Mr Macron told the Russian leader that he was making a "major mistake" in Ukraine, adding: "You are lying to yourself".
Following the call, Mr Macron believes "worse is to come" in the unfolding humanitarian crisis and that Mr Putin wants to seize the entire country, according to an aide.

As I view all images from the war zone with suspicion no matter the source, truth being the first casualty of war, the picture does not show enough to determine if the tank is destroyed - from what is visible here, it seems just immobilized and could be recovered for later service. Does seem likely from the anti-Javelin frame armor ‘sunvisor’ on top and the ERA on the side skirts that it’s an older Russian T-72B3 without the upgraded turret top armor package that can resist Javelins, but I’d need to see more of the hull and turret to be sure.
To be fair, that’s because most Spanish speakers can usually figure out Portuguese.

The Portuguese dont think much of the Spanish. As far as Portugal is concerned Spain was the “evil empire”. Funny thing is the Portuguese (and Brazilians) understand Spanish near perfectly, but the Spanish cant make out what the Portuguese are saying in that weird mush-mouthed pronunciation they’ve got. When we had Brazilian neighbors we would often speak (our kids were best of pals), me in Spanish, her in Portuguese, and so it was, I was straining my linguistic chops and she, of course, heard me perfectly.
I don’t think so. I think this is Blitzkrieg-decap-and-retreat - take major cities, collect or kill the government figures, fall back to the two breakaway provinces. I don’t think Putin wants a long occupation.
When all you have is a hammer, a lot problems look like nails.
There are what we call Neo Nazi brigades in Ukraine. But after they get removed from the board, what happens? Does Putin keep rolling north west? Maybe force a corridor to Kalingard since, well there are Neo Nazis in Poland?
I doubt Russia has the logistics for those moves, but the people that really know aren’t talking.

No player can tell whats going to happen when someone “cries havoc, and lets slip the dogs of war”. It is a state of especially unpredictable chaos. Too much random stuff is generated by the fact of war itself. Like I said, you need background. There is no mastermind surfing the chaotic sea of events.

Any such “engineer” is an idiot. The rule of unforseen consequences, well, rules. Such an idiot engineer is working with complexity not amenable to prediction. I hope I am wrong but I think that if Putin does not get a win in Ukraine then this will go nuclear... freepers should prepare.
Regardless of who is in the right in this conflict if it is not brought to a close, and soon, then billions of people will suffer and a large portion will die. That horrifying end must be avoided, at nearly any cost.
Keep in mind that in a conflict BOTH sides can be the bad guys.
Absolutely all of the devils that comprise what is referred to as the deep state are banging the drum for war with Russia... sadly, many that I would never have guessed are banging in rhythm with them.
IMO, if attacks are launched against Russian forces from states close to Ukraine... especially the launching of fighter jets from airfields under the cover of being piloted by Ukrainians this will result in the destruction of those external bases by Russia... that will lead to a dark place.

Well I have no doubt that he wants “All of Ukraine” to be free of Pro-Nato/Pro-West political activists, but he has even more reason to want to control all of Ukraine because several nations have vowed to send weapons of various kinds to the “resistance”.
Now, I have no idea how all this is going to play out. It may be that an armed resistance can eventaully bring the Russians to a negotiation that is far less favorable than what they originally wanted. But it’s also possible that it will lead to a lot more Ukrainians getting killed for the same result along with much harsher treatment for Ukrainians in general when the fighting ends.
