Go to the basement or middle of the building. Stay away from the outer walls and roof. Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household. If possible, wear a mask if you’re sheltering with people who are not a part of your household. Children under two years old, people who have trouble breathing, and those who are unable to remove masks on their own should not wear them.

Yes. It was very dark. I remember “Waltzing Matilda”.
The Army always taught us, “Ass to the blast”.
Not a single word on Potassium Iodide?
WTF?
Why was it dumb? Do you assume you would have been at ground zero? Because, if not, “duck and cover” could certainly save your life.

It’s the Ivermectin of nuclear war.
Yes, the baritone sing while they are all out fishing. Haunting. ...and Fred Astair racing his car. ..and the submariner fishing off the dock.
One more Tom.
Know what it taste like? An elder Japanese guy I watched on a special one time said it tastes like chewing on tinfoil.
We’ll finally know if the internet which I heard was designed to survive a nuclear attack works that way or not. I think a special nuclear war thread should be posted here on FR at least. :)
Don't know why I would remember but the meter issued to our Army unit was designated as an AN/PDR 27J and was about the size of a box of saltine crackers. .....and yes, it was yellow.
Our 50s grade school and jr HS were 35-40 miles from Chicago, but we had Minuteman Missile Radar Domes and Silos on bases, just a few miles away, in the NW Suburbs, so we were basically at GZ at a primary military target.
Thanks! Now I gotta watch it!👍
I purchased that coffee cup almost 35 years ago and I still have it, unused in the box.

Why should it matter if someone is part of your household in a nuclear explosion?
They’re not even trying anymore.
Many “People may already feel fear and anxiety about the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The threat of a nuclear explosion can add additional stress.”

And just how many billions does this garbage Federal agency cost to post useless dreck like this?
Why was it dumb? Do you assume you would have been at ground zero? Because, if not, “duck and cover” could certainly save your life.

If the shockwave from the blast didn’t kill you immediately, then there is the radiation poisoning. That and the total supply chain obliteration leading to starvation. But yeah, you might survive the initial blast if you’re more than 5 miles away.
What to do in case of a Nuclear Explosion!
1: BEND OVER AS FAR AS YOU CAN
2: KISS YOUR ASS GOODBY
3: COMPLETE KISS BEFOR VAPORIZATION
Actually I think I am quite comfortable where I am; got about 8 to 10 months worth of food in the pantry, no military installations within 200 miles of me, very isolated hard to reach location, nothing but mountains and the Pacific ocean to the west, no big towns or cities within 100 miles of me, plenty of game in the woods and garden plot is doing pretty well for February.
So I think I will just sit right here.
..... Found out from my Doctor today that if I am exposed to any type of Nuclear Detonation that it could be fatal ... So the Doctor is going to give me a Medical Exemption Card.
got about that one...
