Go to the basement or middle of the building. Stay away from the outer walls and roof. Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household. If possible, wear a mask if you’re sheltering with people who are not a part of your household. Children under two years old, people who have trouble breathing, and those who are unable to remove masks on their own should not wear them.

I can understand them being present on an army base, less people likely to steal them. I’m guessing a lot have been stolen in the cities and are hanging in people’s basements.

Falls under that section of things that you can’t do anything about and can’t really prepare for, so yeah, keep a positive attitude. Acceptance, gratitude, prayer. Those always work, when I remember to use them.

I can’t remember the episode right now, but one of Rod Serling’s original Twilight Zone episodes was about just this. An alarm was given that the Soviets had fired nukes at us. One family had a fully stocked bomb shelter and wouldn’t let the neighbors in- they only had enough provisions for themselves. It got quite ugly.
I won’t give away the ending, but look it up if you can. Some of you might remember it.

The eats coast? We those inland should be alright. But they’ll hit the missile silos up round Cheyene WY and all (Kansas etc) the military bases like up round Seattle.
The east coast will see the radiation fallout go out to sea if the winds are from the west.
They hit the west coast? Its not good.
Over 90 some per cent of the initial pulse radiation is released within the first nano second of the blast if I remember right. Its the fallout driven up into the atmosphere that will be the problem. And that decays within a certain amount of time.
Think about a volcano blast..that is just how it will spread.
Then there is the after effects of what is blasted up into the upper atmosphere.
Like I said. I got to re-read my book about all of it again. I have forgotten a whole lot about this.
Just remember, Japan had two of them dropped on them and many people outside of the blast zone survived. BUT, those were small sized. These are HUGE mega ton devices.

A person needs to know the dose you get when you go out even after a week or so.
I saw the mini series Chernobyl and what happen to the firefighters. If they drop it hope its a direct hit on me. Those poor bastards died hard, very hard.

Remember seeing On The Beach, around the time of the Cuban Middle Crisis. That one really spooked me.
The measure from the time we started setting off above ground nuke tests to the time it took to show up in the well water.
Now to be sure..it depended on the depth and distance etc. But it gave them a rough idea.

Nuclear explosions can cause significant damage and casualties from blast, heat, and radiation but you can keep your family safe by knowing what to do and being prepared if it occurs.I'm surprised they didn't say they would ruin your whole day.A nuclear weapon is a device that uses a nuclear reaction to create an explosion.
