The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced it will allow transgender swimmer Lia Thomas to use new rules extending the time trans athletes had to demonstrate lowered testosterone levels.
The move means swimmer Lia Thomas, who competed for the men’s team for three years before “identifying” as a woman, can compete in the women’s national championship.
“The subcommittee decided implementing additional changes at this time could have unfair and potentially detrimental impacts on schools and student-athletes intending to compete in 2022 NCAA women’s swimming championships,” the NCAA said in a statement.
According to Bleacher Report:
The NCAA said transgender athletes will only have to comply with rules set forth under a 2010 policy that requires male-to-female transgender athletes have less than 10 nanomoles per liter of testosterone in their blood.
A new USA Swimming policy, which was announced last week, allows for a maximum of five nanomoles per liter of testosterone and must be demonstrated for a 36-month period.
Citing the unfair advantage of a male competing in the women’s division, sixteen of Thomas’ 41 teammates asked the NCAA to use new Team USA rules and bar her from competition.
“We, 16 members of the Penn Women’s Swimming Team and our family members, thank USA Swimming, for listening to our request to prioritize fairness for biological women in our elite competitions,” the women’s letter said. “We ask that Penn and the Ivy League support us as biological women, and not engage in legal action with the NCAA to challenge these new Athlete Inclusion Policies.”
But six of Thomas’ teammates joined more than 300 swimmers who sent an open letter to the NCAA in favor of him competing.

Lia Thomas continues to prove John McEnroe \absolutely\ correct in his assessment.
And, at the same time, consistently puts the lie to Megan Rapinoe’s claims.
Men ARE better athletes than women...even when they decide to be women themselves.
At this point, it should be easy.
Scholarships are provided for the season.
Anything beyond that is purely voluntary by the swimmers (or any other scholarship athlete).
There is no guarantee in the scholarship that they would compete at a level higher than the regular NCAA season.
One or possibly BOTH parents are living a vicarious psychosis.
They don’t want their son to win, they want to bask in the \lost glory\ of their childhood.
Here's hoping she crushes all of the long standing records too.
If those real WOMEN don’t boycott the game 1 and all they are just a bunch of weak little cowed girls!
Let him swim totally ALONE at the games if you punk arse whiny beeyatches have it in you!
HAHA Sorry ladies. Again a man is better than you at physical activities. But pretend he is a woman or you will be destroyed. All those years of dedication, training, and competing... Too bad. Just remember when you go to vote.
“ I sincerely hope this dude did this to himself so he could win prizes. ”
It runs a little deeper and crazier than that. His older brother was a better and more successful swimmer than “Lia” at the same college a few years earlier. The tranny was also on the men’s team for three years as a mediocre competitor before he decided the only way to beat his bother’s trophy collection was to play for the other team.
I give him about five years before he either suicides or snaps and goes on a rampage.
>>>Easy for me to say however all these swimmers should say scholarship be damned I ain’t competing against dude.<<<
I TOTALLY agree with you. It would be funny if HE was the only one at the competition.
Ivy League schools don’t have athletic scholarships.
Makes you wonder why these young women don’t take a principled stand.
I want him to go to the Olympics before that, however. Another betting category for that could involve whether he will go on a rampage DURING an Olympic event! :D (Sorry, I know my humor is often inappropriate.) His suicide note will be a rant about homophobia. (Thanks for the info, btw. Quite often I’ll avoid looking things like that up because you wouldn’t believe the ads that start appearing.)
Actually, I think one of the first races he did, after joining the Womens' swim team, he won. After he won, total silence from the crowd. I think that is better than the booing, Total silence.
When all the swimming days are past, and no more medals can be won or money made,it will be interesting - and endlessly entertaining - to see if he “re-transitions” to male. It is my hope that he does.
That would be a hoot! He would be showing everyone what a crock of Sh!t all this Trans stuff is!..................
My advice, have the other swimmers quietly step off the stand that they start on; and, take a knee. Everyone loved it when the football players did that. Now, you would have to have every girl agree; but, I think stepping down and taking a knee and letting him swim by himself, sends a message to the NCAA.
Said Thomas in response to being allowed to compete, “As a trans woman, I am actually at a disadvantage, because these womens swimsuits do not take into account the drag my nether regions cause while competing.”
Go home to the kitchen where you belong and fix Daddy a sammich…
“Ivy League schools don’t have athletic scholarships”
Did not know that thanks for the info.
They should all line up to start the race and at the sound of the gun all turn and walk away leaving dude to have the pool all to himself
Pretty much
