Former Vice President Mike Pence called out his former boss by name on Friday, saying that "President (Donald) Trump is wrong" in claiming that Pence had the right to overturn the 2020 election on January 6, 2021.
Speaking at the Federalist Society Florida Chapters conference near Orlando, Pence delivered his strongest response yet to Trump's ongoing efforts to relitigate the 2020 presidential election, calling it "un-American" to suggest one person could have decided the outcome.
Pence warned against conservatives who continue to insist the vice president can alter an election, and said it could be a problematic position for Republicans in the next presidential contest.

Pence should really just go away
No one asked this liar to “overturn the election”. We expected him to honor his Constitutional and legal responsibilities and return questioned tallies to the states for the state legislatures to review and recertify.
Pence is politically DOA -— and it’s at his doing.
Not “overturn” (only the State legislatures could do that).
He could have kicked the elector slates back to the States.
**********
1. Show us the Constitutional or statutory provision allowing him to send the electors back to the states.
2. Would we want the current Vice President (by vote cheating) to send OUR candidate’s electors back to the states?
Pence had a responsibility to protect the integrity of the election and the role of the states in that election. There were several states that put up alternate slates of electors. He should have stood up and said that where alternate slates of electors existed, those states must resolve the conflict before the votes of those electors could be certified.
Don’t forget the failure of SCOTUS to hear the suit of the many States.
He’s always been this way. Best buddy is Paul Ryan. I never liked or trusted Pence and felt Trump was forced to take him as VP just like Reagan got stuck w/George HW Bush. They are both treacherous people in my opinion.
If we want to open the door to VP Harris throwing out a certified electoral vote for Trump and whoever the vice president nominee is in January 2025 and as one person, simply continuing four years of Baden-Harris despite their loss… Well then I guess that’s just the moral hazard we’re going to have to open ourselves up to. She would have every right to do it under this logic.
Agree. If anything, the action would have put the USSC on notice that they needed to hear claims of fraud and not dismiss them out of hand.
Pence announced before hand that he wouldn’t honor the objections.
I am the Anti Trump.
Emerald Robinson should have her own show if Trump starts a news channel.
Except that he said Trump asked him to “overturn the election”, which is a lie. Trump just asked him to send back the documents to the states that requested that, e.g., Pennsylvania.
Pence gives Christians a bad name by having spent four years acting all pious and superior. Turns out he was just a tool for the one-world communist effort.
And Trump is the modicum of honesty and transparency and would never lie to us, right? Quite frankly I’m fed up with everybody
Yep. Totally within his scope to do that and it would have saved the country s lot of grief. Did anyone see him take a “coin” from another Senator after the vote? A sort of high five for a job well done and a gesture signifying he’s part of the club. Pence is bad news.
I do not think that Trump was claiming that Pence had the right to overturn the 2020 election on January 6, 2021. Trump was claiming that the VP had the right to delay the proceeding in order to look into serious irregularities in the results.
The questionable results were a "show stopper."
"Overturn" is the wrong word. Restore the rightful winner is a more accurate description.
Only the disputed electors, obviously.
IF the states want to contest that’s their right.
The Democrats don’t even CARE about “procedure” anyway - they’re trying to nationalize the elections RIGHT now by destroying the filibuster!
She’s on Frank Speech now.
