Ex-Clinton Cabinet Member Apologizes for Saying That He Wanted Sinema to Be Manhandled(backhanded) Over Filibuster Vote

I mean, he probably shouldn’t have deleted it because the Internet is forever,Bob. Robert Reich served as labor secretary under Bill Clinton and was quite angry about Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (D-AZ) decision to not join the radical Left’s ploy to nuke the filibuster and pass an elections takeover bill. This is the bill that Democrats think would end voting rights for everyone if it doesn’t pass. It’s pathetic theater, but Sinema and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) joined the GOP to stop the nuking of the filibuster which was needed. We all knew this was going to fail. Sinema-Manchin shouted their opposition for weeks prior to Chuck Schumer’s ‘Hail Mary’ throw here. He only managed to embarrass his party, but Reich is a close runner-up for his tweet that insinuated that Sinema should be slapped around for her filibuster vote.

Progressive men are very feminist and support strong women, except for when they advocate for violence against women who step out of line, like Kyrsten Sinema. https://t.co/yEcMnP8iKD

— Christina Pushaw ?? (@ChristinaPushaw) January 20, 2022 She shook hands with her Republican colleagues on the night of the vote. How dare she? Leah covered this story first. In Democratic Party circles, violence against women is only okay when we do it. Reich tried to backtrack.

“Last night I deleted a tweet because it was widely misinterpreted and distorted by conservative media. ‘Back of the hand’ is an idiom for rebuke. I wholeheartedly condemn violence against women.”

Just an idiom for rebuke?

In 2019, the number of women in the United States who were victims of violence was 1,479,540 . This included from criminals such as rapists and muggers as well as domestic partners.
Can’t get a good figure for later years.

These women would differ about what rebuke has to do with that.

Typical Democratic response. I’m sorry, just move on. Oh wait, you’re a Republican? JAIL TIME!

The guy is a liberal, but he clearly was NOT advocating physical violence. It was a play on words, and adults ought to recognize it. This is the equivalent of saying Sarah Palin wanted people shot because she had pictures with a gun sight on them!

Let’s not play the stupid, “I got you” hyperventilating games of the Left. He was saying they ought to reject her. That’s all. Nothing physical implied.

I’d like to see him try it.

“IMHO opinion, Sinema should jump parties to Republican and run against Mark Kelly.”

What in the hell kind of STUPID opinion is that? Sinema IS IN OFFICE thru 2024. Kelly is up this year. And Sinema is very liberal on most issues - transgender, abortion, spending, judges, etc. She is no conservative.

I had a low opinion of McSally, dating back to her military days, but McSally would have been a far more reliable conservatize vote than Sinema ever will be.

Here’s the thing —

A Republican says “I plan to beat my opponent”.
It would be nightly news and the cover of magazines (if they still existed) about the violence being pushed by Republicans. It would be huge.

A Democrat says “I want my opponent’s family gunned down execution style” — and immediately it is Republicans who will jump up and defend their right to free speech. It’s an expression. It’s a play on words. Let’s focus on the issues.

I will not unilaterally disarm.
Use their tactics against them.

Well....she’d have to willing bend over for HIM to give her face a back-of-his hand ‘rebuke.’ IMO, he was being way too short with her determination. It was an extremely short-tempered response. The kind of response for which support would necessarily be low. In short, it was very small of him.

Trump should claim that everything he has said that caused the left to melt down time and time again were just idioms, and demand an apology from Reich

Then we disagree, which is fine. I think the way to stop it is to reject all Twitter-Mob hyperventilating. A backhanded compliment is just a “compliment” that is really an insult. It isn’t a compliment delivered with a backhand blow.

To be honest, I miss the days a guy could slug another guy (who deserved it) and no one would get upset, let alone call a cop...

Although I admit the mental image of Reich taking on Sinema in a physical brawl is hilarious! I suspect she could pick him up off the floor and backhand him a few times with his feet still dangling.

Sinema will be gone in 2024. If she choose to jump parties she beats Kelly for sure as a Republican and she could probably stay in the Senate so long she would die in office. Regardless, Kelly's gone in 2022 and Sinema probably will be too in 2024 unless she jumps parties soon and has a few solid years as a Republican in the Senate

If the Republicans were trying to end the filibuster the Dems and MSM would be having the biggest freak out in history.
