So many things the Democrats organized have turned out to be false flag operations (Whitmer kidnapping, January 6) that it would be safe to assume that everthing they do is a false flag operation until proven otherwise. This brings us to the strange case of the imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine. We are supposed to believe that the modern Machievelli, Vladimir Putin, has had 100,000 Russian troops camped out in the snow for months on end, poised to invade Ukraine. No complaints from the Russian troops have been heard, so these must be really hard men, capable of enduring enormous suffering, sitting patiently in the snow drifts while waiting for their leader's order to advance. And they would all be men with not one pregnancy flight suit east of the Dnieper.
This is doubly strange because relations between the Bidens and the Russians are so cordial. One Russian lady, Elena Baturina, gave Hunter Biden $3.5 million, seemingly out of the kindness of her heart, because no reciprocal service was provided by Mr. Biden.
Another strange thing about the Russian invasion threat is that it is exactly the wrong thing to do if your major threat is China. China has territorial ambitions on all its neighbours and is the greatest threat to world peace. Russia understands that Chinese territorial ambitions, for example over Vladivostok, not being actively pursued are merely in abeyance. China's long-term ambition is to subsume all Russian territory east of the Urals.
Edward Luttwak has called China an autistic power. That is being too charitable — it is more of a psychopath. It feels the need to be constantly attacking other countries. At the moment, it is building up forces on its border with India for a summer offensive.

Amen.
If Putin wanted to invade Ukraine, why hasn’t he already done so, instead of allowing weapons and trainers to flood in for months? Because he wants a diplomatic solution. Our idiot prefers a war, with horrible consequences for Ukraine and possibly escalation to global nuclear war, because he’d take political heat for “selling out” Ukrainian independence and his financial cronies. Let’s NOT go Brandon.
“Since Putin took power, I’ve viewed him as a new Czar. A Czar without the pomp and circumstance but a Czar, nonetheless. And no that doesn’t make him our buddy or even automatically our enemy. He just needs to be watched, countered when necessary, and cooperated with when circumstances call for it.”
Well said. Putin seems to care about Russia and its future. I wish the same could be said for US politicians. This makes him someone that can be dealt with in some degree of rationality unlike the leaders most of of the EU countries who seem intent on wrecking their own nations.
Putin is not our friend but he doesn’t have to be our enemy. Pushing him into alliance with China is the most boneheaded political move since Stalin thought he could work with Hitler.
I’ve seen more vehicles at a Jets game.
uhhhh, I think you missed the point.
Check out what the cars were spelling...
lol
The claim Russia is going to invade Ukraine has been nothing but propaganda from the start. Biden is determined to demonize Russia in order to distract the country from his long list of failures.
Russia is not going to wage a brutal war with Ukraine. It's been a lie from the start by the Biden regime to distract from its many failures.
Putin is, first and foremost, a nationalist. He is presiding over a country with a crappy, but slowly improving economy. Its population is in decline, especially ethnic Russians. Putin is seeking to obtain concessions and benefits with maximum bluster and minimum cost. He won’t invade because it will cost too much in terms of treasure and limited manpower, especially when he can get pretty much everything he wants (including a bolstered image as a tough guy you don’t mess with) at very low cost. Putin is NOT stupid.
“We are supposed to believe that the modern Machievelli, Vladimir Putin, has had 100,000 Russian troops camped out in the snow for months on end, poised to invade Ukraine.”
During WW2 the fighting in winter between the Soviets and the Germans was mostly centered on the Ukrainian “Fronts”. The ground had to be solid enough to support tanks & trucks. When the snows got to deep on the northern & central fronts the Soviets would shift their mobile forces to the Ukraine.
Also, I don’t think the Russian soldier ‘gets a vote’ on a possible winter invasion any more than our guys got a vote about getting vaxxed.
(I hope this is wrong, but I read that Germany only has as many working tanks now as one WWII German armored division.)
I’ve read the same, and from multiple sources. They’re refurbishing Leopard II tanks like there’s no tomorrow, but they’re all being sold to foreign customers.
There is an even more compelling reason why Putin will not invade Ukraine: the Russian public would blame him for the ensuing stream of Russian boys returning home in caskets.
They changed the regulations in the Russian Army. The dead are buried in theater now. Besides, a good bit of their infantry force are ethnic Russians living in Ukraine. They’ll get buried at home — which is Ukraine.
He had no choice, Stalin was poised to attack Germany and conquer Western Europe under the guise of its liberation from Nazis. Not that German invasion into Russia had any historic or moral justification, just two thugs at each other throats. GRU defector Victor Suvorov made it crystal clear in his numerous books on the subject.
f Putin wanted to invade Ukraine, why hasn’t he already done so...
Theory: Russia’s Grand Strategy remains that they need a territorial buffer between Europe and Moscow.
Nato expansion to the East must therefore be prevented. Ukraine, Finland & Sweden are all making noises about joining.
If Putin invades the Ukraine with a view toward taking the entire country he most certainly prevents the Ukraine from gaining Nato membership... but Finland & Sweden join Nato immediately out of self-preservation.
So Putin is trying to get cute about what his objectives are because he doesn’t want to win a war at the price of p*ssing away the larger strategic objective.
I posted this on a thread yesterday in response to the quoted part at the top. I don’t disagree with your points, but touched on some other aspects, in case you are interested.
“Tucker and his guests keep touting Russia’s “strategic interests” which justify invading Ukraine. This is supposedly because Ukraine is about to join NATO, something which is no where near happening and which is a pretext Putin is raising to justify annexing Ukraine.”
I don’t follow Carlson, but for your consideration:
A. If Putin wanted to invade Ukraine, why hasn’t he already done so, instead of giving NATO/the US time to pour in weapons and advisors?
B. Biden has made it clear enough that the US is not going to do more than impose sanctions and donate weapons, which Russia will end up with (Afghanistan).
C. Europe wants and needs Russian energy, so a sanctions regime is not going to last. This will become a wedge issue that harms EU-US relations and weakens NATO.
D. Putin has at least three objectives:
1. Putin wants to force the US and NATO into allowing “Finlandization” of Ukraine, so that it is not a significant threat on Russia’s southern border. His talk about sending offensive weapons to Cuba and Venezuela is to rachet up pressure for diplomacy since his show of force on the Ukrainian border hasn’t born fruit.
2. Putin wants to dominate Ukraine and force it to be part of a Eurasian economic and security bloc under Russin hegemony, as a counterweight to NATO and the EU.
3. Putin is not a “self-holder” and his power depends on delivering the goods both to his nationalist popular base and the cabal of business oligarchs and the descendants of the KGB-mafia he came from. These elements have substantial operations that suck wealth out of Ukraine. An actual war, with unpopular casualties, destruction of the cash cow, likely expensive occupation requirements for years, economic isolation and massive losses, losing international good will, scaring NATO into greater readiness, etc., is not a good outcome. Diplomacy that gives Russia less control over Ukraine, but at enormously lower cost, is the objective.
A die-hard optimist might think that Biden is brilliantly calling Putin’s bluff by in effect saying, go ahead and invade, because he knows that is not Putin’s desired end game. Absent diplomatic solutions, eventually Putin will invade, to maintain Russia’s, and his own, credibility and power at home. Biden will demonstrate for any slow learners that the US is a feckless ally, leaving Putin in a position to co-opt other Eurasian states into his empire. The result for Ukraine will be catastrophic instead of merely bad.
I keep reading about 100,000 man (Russian Army) on Ukraine’s border. Well, considering the frontage involved that’s not a large number and probably does not necessarily constitute an offensive force. If Putin wanted to guarantee a knockout win, or even just a rapid occupation of the Donbas — he would have to add another 50 - 60 thousand to that number. Otherwise he risks getting tangled up in Ukraine’s fortified belt and getting his tanks chewed up by Javelins. (Recall the IDF tank forces getting hammered during their last incursion into Lebanon.)
Good points, I fear. I hope that Putin intends no more than to accrue the bloodless but real benefits of giving Ukraine, the US, and NATO a scare.
So Russia does NOT invade.
Biden scared them off.
Hooray Biden.
Biden’s IOUs just multiplied.
