Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) took to the Senate floor on Thursday and delivered a speech that could be described as having a little something for everyone. There was, however, one little something that was much bigger than all the rest: her steadfast resolve about not getting rid of the filibuster.
Knowing what the crux of this speech was going to mean for the future of the Republic, I really wanted to love it.
Sinema is my senator, and so far has been an ongoing surprise for conservatives here in the Grand Canyon State. She seems to grasp the true purple nature of the state she represents and has thus far been unwilling to throw herself off of the leftist cliff that the rest of her party has already done the lemming march over.
Although she’s on board with almost all of the Democratic agenda, Sinema has refused to budge on the filibuster issue. It’s not a position that has been easy for her to maintain but she’s proven to be tough.
Sinema’s speech began with some brilliant lines about the deep division in American politics. She talked about our tendency to view our political opposites as “the other,” then said, “It’s more common today to demonize someone who thinks differently than us rather than to seek to understand their views.”
As someone who makes a living as a verbal bomb-throwing political opinion writer, I know that there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides of the aisle. However, as a conservative in political media — as well as the entertainment industry — I know full well that the blame scale tips heavily to the left.
In fact, it’s the Democrats and progressives who’ve demonized and harassed Sinema the most in recent months.

Well, they just LOVED John McCain for years.
So they’re getting their comeuppance.
Sen. Sinema is a great American.
is it just me or does this democrat from Arizona fight harder against the left than dead John McCain did?
LMAO
Sinema: “It’s more common today to demonize someone who thinks differently than us rather than to seek to understand their views.”
The crux of the problem facing Americans now. It’s not so much Covid as it is the deep suspicion that rises to hatred among many Americans (leftists) who label anyone who dares to question the government/media narrative as “terrorists”. The old scapegoat scenario which will inevitably move to persecution if people don’t wake up and see who’s manipulating them. It’s an insidious process that’s well on its way.
I deal with it in my own family and among some liberal friends out here on the Left Coast. Discussion or dialogue is impossible with these Fauci worshippers and Biden zombies. You’re instantly the “enemy” who “wants to kill people” by questioning the jab and the whole tyrannical apparatus.
Nobody loved John McCain. Our elections are a joke. Janet Napolitano counted for an extra week on the res to win her first run for governor way back when. It just continues. Sinema stole hers too.
She’s been a pleasant surprise. Still a lefty, but not completely nuts.
Mark Kelly, on the other hand, has been invisible. He just goes along with Pelosi.
Don’t count any chickens until the Pubes control the Senate. And not even then.
“Mark Kelly, on the other hand, has been invisible. He just goes along with Pelosi.”
Wut? Kelly is a senator and pelosi is speaker of the house.
BTW, Kelly’s strong suit is that he is a terrific fundraiser, still exploiting the gabby giffords shooting.
Sinema has been true to her values and word. McCain lied about Obamacare, screwed the country over petty feelings about Trump, and the guy didn’t have an honest bone in his body.
Remembering how we felt then - it’s good to see the Dem indigestion now over Sinema and Manchin.
So, are the lefties talking about how how they are heros? Principled? Great Statesmen?
I didn’t think so.
And, for the purists who complain about her Democrat tendencies, news flash, she is a Democrat.
And she is a great gift to America.
Yes, he’s a Senator, but I think we both know Pelosi calls the shots for both chambers. Schumer is her lap dog.
McCain never did learn how to properly fly an airplane, either.
People like her on one issue and are ready to forget everything...and that’s on FR. Country got almost nothing left.
She’s done well when it comes to a few issues, but keep it all in perspective. This is no budding conservative here…

She also voted with President Trump 51% of the time.
Pleasantly surprised at her. I just hope she knows that Arizona is not a blue state...
General Custer was truly a skilled and daring soldier in the Civil War. But when it came to fighting the "terrorists" of his day, the Sioux and Cheyenne, Custer was more bold than wise. And at Little Big Horn he and 266 men in his company were massacred. Nobody escaped.
Together, Custer and McCain are what the Navy calls "loose cannons on deck" -- very dangerous fellows to be around. Reckless and full of self-pride.
In fact, the great USS Forrestal fire in 1967 killed 134 sailors. John McCain was a survivor of that Forrestal fire.
The fire was caused by a Zuni rocket mistakenly fired from a plane on the Forrestal's flight deck, causing a cascade of explosions and jet fuel fires.
Instead of a "loose cannon on deck", it was a "loose rocket on deck" that did the damage on the Forrestal.
Disasters seem to follow certain people.
