'People are going to die': Furious drivers snowed-in on Virginia's I-95 for more than 20 HOURS demand Gov. Northam speed up rescue efforts as they run out of gas and water - and call DoorDash for food! [Tim Kaine stuck}

Furious drivers stranded on I-95 in Virginia for more than 20 hours without gas, food and water are demanding that Governor Ralph Northam speed up rescue efforts as they resort to calling DoorDash in a dire effort to get food.

'We have to find a way to get national guard here. Diabetics and babies down here. People are going die here,' a friend told NBC's Jim Scarborough, who tweeted the quote in a plea to get people rescued faster as the 50-mile stretch of highway south of the nation’s capital was still closed Tuesday morning after six tractor-trailers jackknifed the day before.

Jim DeFede, who has been stuck on the interstate just south of Quantico for the past 24 hours, called I-95 'a complete parking lot' and was growing angry as his woes weren't answered and emergency personnel were not coming to his rescue.

'I don't know who's in charge but somebody better do something because there are cars and families just trapped here this entire time and nobody seems to be coming.

'I haven't seen a state trooper in at least 12 hours. I haven't seen a tow truck in at least 14 hours,' DeFede said in a video posted to Twitter.

Meanwhile, it appeared as though Northam was hoping the sun would help melt the snow and clear traffic. 'Sunlight is expected to help @VaDOT clear the road,' he said on Twitter.

But DeFede said that as of this morning, the road was still covered in ice.(snip)

Virginia State Senator Tim Kaine (snip) revealed that he is one of the people stuck in the snowy pile-up in a tweet early Tuesday that read: 'I started my normal 2 hour drive to DC at 1pm yesterday. 19 hours later, I’m still not near the Capitol.'

The survivors will be better prepared for the next time this happens. The others will be counted as Omicron victims.

As one that was born and raised in northern Maine, we were taught at an early on to keep all the necessary supplies in the car all winter long, in case of this very event that’s now unfolding. We also never left vehicles go below 3/4 of a tank in the wintertime.
Just a little tidbit of information to any of the insane moronic left lurking on FR: let this be a good lesson to you to stay to heck out of northern Maine, especially in the wintertime.
There is NOTHING good for you up there....winter or summer.

I received a nice sleeping bag as a gift. I keep it in the car just in case, what with winter ❄️🥶 coming on

Must have been rough if you didn’t have a full tank of gas.

I try to never get below half a tank of fuel. This time of year especially.

I was always taught to travel with extra supplies in case I got stuck in a winter snowstorm. Bathroom time is tricky though.

We were visiting Washington a few years ago when a storm dropped something like three inches of snow. They shut the city down. They just don’t know how to deal with snow.

I am very confused. Can those people walk to a safe place?

Looking at the map, I see restaurants and hotels along the highway.

I remember a hurricane where people were trapped on the evacuation route out. The neighborhoods next to the route took in the stranded people. All the people had to do was walk. We ferried people from a road that was parallel to the highway to the nice dry homes.

I guess people up North like to wait on Biden to rescue them. The Government holdup is they must be Covid tested and vaccinated before rescue. Note: if illegal status they get rescue.

Not just the Northern states ...

Tennesseans know not to go through Kentucky in winter ...

When it snows you can get stuck on the higher areas of I-75 just like on I-95 ...

No one forced them to drive out unprepared in these conditions.

You put chains on your car and off you go.

Once, in the Siskiyou I-5 pass, we had to stop for a jackknifed truck. Had chains on the VW, and no trouble getting going again.

Not so for a guy in another VW, who could not get it through his head why I couldn't let him use ONE of my chains, and we both go!

Trying to explain to him how a non-locking differential works was like trying to teach differential equations to a monkey. LOL

“...somebody better do something...I haven’t seen a state trooper in at least 12 hours. I haven’t seen a tow truck in at least 14 hours”

So much for the reputation rugged, independent, self-sufficient American. “Wahhh...somebody do something”

Why would people venture out into the storm? If you had to go out, why didn’t you have simple survival gear in your car?

No, if the average healthy American isn’t able to eat something every four or eight hours because he/she is stuck in a snowstorm, IT’S THE DONNER PARTY ALL OVER AGAIN!

How our ancestors who settled and built up this country must laugh at us.

“As one that was born and raised in northern Maine”

I remember Maine, cold Maine. Station there for 4 years. I own a 4x4 truck and a Polaris sled. Always kept candles and matches in the truck too.

I remember 6 feet of snow in 8 hours.
