"Squad" queen Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggested Friday that Republican critics are motivated by "sexual frustrations" due to the fact that "they can't date" the left-wing congresswoman.
The New York Democrat made the claim in response to online criticism she faced after reports revealed she had traveled to Miami with her boyfriend before the new year.
"If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Friday in response to former Trump campaign advisor Steve Cortes, who had taken a shot at her boyfriend's attire.

In China they have a word for naive American leftists. They are called “baizuo” or the “white left” on social media. “They only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment” and “have no sense of real problems in the real world”; they are hypocritical humanitarians who advocate for peace and equality only to “satisfy their own feeling of moral superiority”; they are “obsessed with political correctness” to the extent that they “tolerate backwards Islamic values for the sake of multiculturalism”; they believe in the welfare state that “benefits only the idle and the free riders”; they are the “ignorant and arrogant westerners” who “pity the rest of the world and think they are its saviours”.
Well, I’m sexually pretty frustrated, and I’m willing to road-trip to FLA, if that’s what it takes to pound dat thang. Might actually make a Republican out of her.
Objectively, she conforms to many of the standards of physical attractiveness. Trim figure with feminine curves, high cheekbones,, good facial symmetry, clear skin, multi-ethnic features, long well-maintained hair. She may not be everyone's type, but as an early twenties bartender, she was probably hit on by multiple guys of various levels of attractiveness every single shift she worked and could catch just about any guy she desired. It gives one an aura of invincibility.
Having that type of "power" puts a person into a bubble. They have immense amounts of confidence and get breaks normal people don't get. Her physical attractiveness has gotten her prime service at hotels and restaurants, extra favors by service people, probably got out of tickets on the highway and turning in late assignments in school. If she wasn't in that bubble, she'd never have the confidence to primary a sitting congressman and have a bunch of thirsty young male volunteers knock on doors for her to win that primary. Her power base and echo chamber is socialists, thirsty dumb guys who want to bed her, and unattractive women who wish they were her. In Brooklyn, that's a good coalition but it doesn't wear well in flyover country.
That kind of power comes with a trade off though. All of her formative years were spent on easy street and she's smart enough to know that her looks got her a lot of attention. She's unfortunately not smart enough to realize that all of those times she was spouting off nonsense to drunk guys in their twenties who were looking to get her into bed, that her ideas were nonsense. She is also no longer dealing primarily with drunk guys in their early twenties who are looking to get her in bed, so these put downs when someone calls her out on her bullshit (which were once accurate) just sounds like the rantings of a fool, which they are.
