RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - Some Vermonters who are able to find antigen tests and then test positive are clogging up emergency rooms.
The emergency department at the Rutland Regional Medical Center has been overwhelmed with asymptomatic folks.
Dr. Rick Hildebrant is RRMC’s medical director. He says some people who test positive with a rapid test go to the emergency room looking for a PCR test.
Hildebrant says those who are asymptomatic and receive a positive antigen test should stay home and reach out to their primary care provider.
He says the only time to go to the ER is if you have a positive test and are very sick.
Hildebrant says the flood of asymptomatic people is preventing others in need of immediate care from getting it.
“It’s not so much the beds that are the precious resource, it’s the staff at this time. So we have to have some of our clinical staff providing care to those people and they can’t provide care to the folks in the ER,” Hildebrant explained.
The Vermont Hospital Association says it’s hearing similar stories from other parts of the state.

Hildebrant says health department PCR testing is the best option for asymptomatic people, even though the results take a little longer.
He says by going to the emergency department, you are also potentially exposing yourself to someone with COVID who is very sick.

Panic has set in
We have a mental health pandemic in this country
The unvaxxed airline pilot next door has it now. Waiting to hear how he does. Wife making them a big pot of chicken soup. I think most everyone will catch it over the next couple of months.
I knew this was part of the plan....now everyone wants to go to the hospital. Their primaries should deal with them...They don’t want to...
Pcr was never intended to be diagnostic. There are nonspecific and more specific markers. I have been in lab since the 80s. I will never allow my family to have a pcr test. I have seen the multitudes of false positives scare the left out of people for far too long and far too often.
So everyone needs to get tested even if they feel fine and if they are ‘sick” they need to stay home until they get REALLY sick and then hopefully not die since hospitals don’t have any medicine to give them? seems like a great plan.
This is what mass hysteria looks like.
They may start burning witches next week.
Uh, if their “symptonless”, why go to the ER? So they think they’ll get in the cool kids club?
😨💉🐂💨💩
If you don’t have symptoms just stay home for 10 days.
if they are not sick, WHY are they in the emergency room???
This is one of the big problems with all this hysteria.
People are hyped into thinking it’s the end of the world and they need to get help regardless.
Which is good reason to take data about ERs and hospitals with a grain of salt.
One ‘positive’ and a couple potential positives in our extended family over Christmas. Nobody is in a panic .... no one is rushing to the hospital and the reason this so is because we’ve shared information including early treatment options. The media has been very successful in spreading the fear porn that COVID=death in the minds of a good portion of the population. “Fear” is not a factor for those we know, but “being prepared” is. What is needed for ‘early’ outpatient treatment is on hand already ... most of us are doing prophylactic protocols. It is such a shame that so much of the population stands helplessly by, waiting for the next government/Fauci edict/booster(s) instead of doing many simple, effective things they CAN do to take their health back into their own hands.
That’s awesome. They give away free tests to everybody, Omicron is so transmissible, so many positive at home tests, they are going to have to come out and say, “Hey, just cause you tested positive doesn’t mean you need to go to the hospital or even call your doctor, everybody relax.”

We are running around like schizophrenic sheep, while the Chinese Navy just launched 3 new warships in ONE DAY.
We are toast.
This “pandemic” seems to have been custom made for hypochondriacs.
How many times can one do that before getting fired?
Some people have jobs…
Exactly
The press and the government has gotten the general public so filled with irrational fear of this common cold virus that the merest hint that they have it that they run, in fear of their life to the nearest emergency room
When I was a kid, my parents would take me to the hospital unless I had arterial blood spraying on the walls and we would leave until I had cleaned it up.
Just joking but the only trip I ever made to the ER room was when I had flipped off my bicycle and broken my clavicle.
