The jurors have found Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright, guilty on counts of both first- and second-degree manslaughter.

The jury had deliberated for approximately 28 hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Late Tuesday, they asked Judge Regina Chu what they should do if they could not arrive at a verdict. Speaking with the jurors, Chu told them they needed to continue with deliberations with open minds and a willingness to listen to each other’s viewpoints.

If races had been reversed, we all know no charges would have been brought.

Brooklyn, Minnesota?

That’s a suburb of Mogadishu, N.A.

Standby for another 1000 police officers retiring or quitting.

A shame she will do more time than the POS she shot ever did. If he’d been in jail where he belonged he wouldn’t have gotten killed.

So... The message is... When you get stopped by the police there is no need to comply... Just get into your car and drive away?

A male cop shot a black guy and killed him the same way a couple of years ago, I never heard how that one came out.

If it was Oscar Grant in 2009, SF Bart cop Johannes Mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and served 11 months for mistaking his pistol for a Taser.

Her own police department testified, that even if she had intended to use her gun (vs taser), it was justified use of force under their guidelines..... He was a multiple violent offender, which the officers knew that at the time. And he was endangering the life of at least one of the officers by dragging him in the car... seems like a miscarriage of justice.

I was a project cop for many years and did it quite well.

You are correct that it is not for everyone. I saw that and my department was pretty selective about who they would assign to the inner-city beats or public housing squad.

It is not for everyone. Hotheads were not welcome. Weak officers who lacked “presence” and decision making skills were not welcome. Officers who lacked patience and people skills did very poorly and caused all of us problems. They were generally scorned and pushed out of such positions.

Law enforcement is a world that should be dominated by capable and tough Type A personalities who are confident but not arrogant. It was rewarding and I went to work every day knowing that if I tried to the do the best I could, treat others as I would want to be treated, and that I did the right thing my department and city had my back.

That last part was most important and it no longer exists.

they’ll soon find officers holding back entirely when we really need them to act.

I believe that's intentional. The goal was to put local cops under Federal political control. That goal has been achieved.

Cops will act when they know they are ordered from on-high and are politically protected, ie) when it matters to the state.

As for random street crime? That doesn't matter. Expect it to continue to rise rapidly.

This verdict proves my case. We need to have a test for jurors that determines critical thinking skills, logic and understanding of basic law principles such as reasonable doubt, etc.

I thought the Rittenhouse verdict would be the example but the jury got it right. Everyone cheered for the justice system and how well it works. The reality is we got lucky, period.

This officer did not commit a crime. She and the police dept. should be civilly liable but no criminal charges should have ever been brought. Our justice system does NOT work and needs a complete overhaul from the top down. DAs cannot be elected politicians. Jurors cannot be randomly selected from a pool of largely unqualified citizens. There should be no mandatory sentencing of any kind. I could go on and on but today should be a wake up call. Our system is utterly broken.

The defense in this case should organize an unrelenting movement to pressure the Governor to immediately grant a full pardon to this officer.

I don’t disagree with the decision

She did shoot him and I believe it was accidental, but what happens to a civilian that accidentally shoots and kills someone?

I regard this verdict as more plausible than the Arbery verdict or the Chauvin verdict. Those verdicts were just garbage, but this one is reasonable give that she did in fact do this.

I think letting her off with a "not guilty" is just too far. You don't shoot people by accident.

Now given that the piece of sh*t she was fighting with was fighting with her at the time, I would give her a pretty light sentence for what constitutes an accidental killing.

Some of this is his fault for fighting.
