I admit I’m a Carrie Bradshaw fan. I was in my twenties in 1998 and living in Chicago when Sex and the City debuted on HBO. It captured, pretty accurately, what life was like in a big city when you’re young and beautiful. What was never accurate was the amount of money Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda had to play with; that was always a fantasy. But the weird encounters with guys who would do stupid things like break up with you on a post-it-note or ask you to do sexually bizarre things you would never ever consider, frienemies who would sabotage you, thinking you had met “the one” over and over again — it all rang true, even if it was exaggerated and at times overboard on the raunch.

One further aside, Ann Coulter always said this was a show featuring women but made for gay men.
Talk about ‘horses.’ Haha.....female IS a horse...
SJP.....
Gay men like her best buddy Drudge?
There’s about forty different series from the 1980s, 1990s and the 2010 era....where I’ve attempted to watch one single episode....then gave up. This is one of those.
I’d put Designing Women, Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, new version of Dallas, Grace Under Fire, and Ally McBeal all into that group.
Faithfully recreated the original?
I always thought she looked a bit like Dee Snyder from Twisted Siter.
I have never watched it. A guy in the office did. He’s not gay, but single and unmarried. I guess he liked vicariously being around women via the show. I never saw the appeal of SJP either. Now she looks really awful.
30 years ago she had that body, but it didn’t make up for the face.
It really was about the sex lives of gay men.
One whiff of that chain smoker’s breath would negate any positives.
Sex in the City, Designing Women, Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, new version of Dallas, Grace Under Fire, Ally McBeal . . . Never watched a single minute of any of them.
A perfect example of a butter face.
Paywall pass
The dumbest thing was all these Alpha men would be chasing after these average looking at best sluts, especially in later seasons when they were in their late 30s - mid-forties.
That is what lights are for.
Coulter should know. Gay men have been the majority of her public male companions. No criticism. It’s been a reality with many single wealthy attractive middle age NYC women for many years.
She was good in “LA Story” with Steve Martin, and that’s about it.
“I have never understood SJP’s popularity.”
To understand that all you have to do is look at the success of the likes of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. In other words, the answer lies in the preferences of our fellow citizens.
It’s like wondering why dogs like to sniff each others’ asses.
