You Heard it Here First: The Old CNN Is Dead

As a broadcast journalist, my goal was always to get my accurate story on the air first. Beating the other networks by even just a minute was a major victory when covering breaking news. It drove ratings and ratings are everything. So, let me give you an advantage in your political discussion group. Here is the headline for January 1, 2022: The old CNN is dead!

The cause of death is not the forced departure of Chris Cuomo or Rachel Maddow’s act becoming so old she is moving to a weekly show. Nor is it that CNN’s jaundiced journalists conspired to be completely wrong about Kyle Rittenhouse, the false Russia collusion claim, Hunter Biden’s laptop, Jessie Smollett, Border Patrol whippings, and countless other “important” news stories. The reason is good old-fashioned free-market economics combined with Americans’ limited tolerance of CNN’s ultra-liberal BS (Bovine Secretions).

Two decades ago, CNN was the news juggernaut. But since then, its viewership dropped faster than Joe Biden’s approval ratings. Media mogul John Malone just bought the sinking news ship in a fire sale and he will waste no time in cutting out the cancerous cause for CNN’s liberal-laced decline.

To understand why Malone must drastically reshape CNN, you must understand who really decides what you watch on a news program. When watching CNN, MSNBC, or the three major entertainment networks, it is easy to blame the news anchor for the seriously slanted left-leaning coverage.

Today’s talking heads, though, are not the main cause of the problem. They just blindly read whatever the show producers dump into their teleprompters. In their carefully clipped, dulcet tones, complete with properly concerned expressions, they read the words written by far-left young men and women who think the world revolves around them and their favorite Manhattan pan-Mongolian vegetarian restaurant.

Walter Cronkite was a self-admitted liberal, but he worked very hard to report the news with no discernible political slant.

The author is delusional. He thinks the leftist makeup of the Media is an accidental product of capitalism.

Walter Cronkite did more to defeat the United States in Vietnam than all of China.

Peter Arnetta and Bernard Shaw having the fortune to be in Baghdad with a video camera on that big night of the Gulf War.

I remember being glued to the set when the bombing started. Being assigned as a linguist to 5 ID at Ft Polk might have made me just a bit more interested than others.

The most hilarious part of the whole evening was Peter trying to get Bernard Shaw out from under the bed to come and watch the fireworks. Shaw thought he was going to die and Peter was excited as heck at the prospect of being front and center of the biggest news event in the past decade.

It’s too late for CNN. They crossed the line into the Propaganda Media a long time ago and no one will trust them. There are also too many “cord-cutters” and “cord-nevers” who won’t watch them.

Now that I do not agree with. We already know that CNN was colluding with Saddam for access, covering the news the way he wanted it.

Additionally, the CIA tried to warn Arnett that there was a Iraqi communications unit in the basement. Arnett’s reply “I’ve been walking all over the hotel and have seen nothing like that” was so over the top silly it proves he was complicit in the situation.

The luck was having someone as combat proven as Arnett there. If Shaw had been by himself, nobody would have seen anything.

Whatever the redo, it won’t become any less dishonest and misleading.

It costs money to produce unique content - typically with different producer, talking head, programmed guests. Reduce the variety programming while still repeating whatever the memo of the day directs. Costs less, probably gets same ratings.

So yeah, SSDD.

Was you even alive in the sixties? I doubt it very much. The times were different at that time than they are now.

In the 19th paragraph the cause is revealed:

“when CNN’s number of viewers dropped below ... CNN’s owners knew it was time to cut their losses. “

:: They understood their job was to observe what was happening, condense it into a minute-and-a-half of easily understandable facts, and then report those facts to their viewers. ::

While subtly inserting their deeply held communist ideology into the reporting.

1968 Tet Offensive
I solid victory for the US as the NVA used innocents to shield their movements.
Yet, Uncle Walter reported the “slaughter of innocents at the hands of savage soldiers with no moral compass”.

Saigon wrote those words for him.

Wrong! Cronkite and Brokaw were liberals who occasionally remembered that they were Americans. And Jennings, well don’t speak ill of the dead would apply.

Yes, it is Arnett without the extra ‘A’. But I really didn’t think it was worthwhile to discuss. I just spelled it correctly in my response.

Rachel Maddow is MSNBC.

CNN has been moving toward the center the last couple of weeks. They are dying where they are. MSNBC can out loon them every day of the week.
