The fugitive parents of accused Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley broke down in court Saturday morning as their charges were read aloud.

James, 45, and Jennifer, 43, Crumbley were captured early Saturday in the basement of a building on the 1100 block of Bellevue Street in Detroit, less than half a mile from the Canadian border, police confirmed.

“Somethings wrong that just three hours before the shooting the parents refused to remove their son from the school with plenty of evidence there was a serious problem with him.”

That’s the purview of school administration.

They have absolute authority on the issue.

The school did not perceive an imminent threat and did not inform law enforcement...didn’t even suspend the kid.

Meeting at the school.

12:51 pm: Ethan allegedly shoots and kills four students

1:22 pm: Jennifer texted Ethan 'don't do it.' The shooting had already taken place.

1:37 pm James called 911 to report the gun missing and said he thinks his son might have it.

The above is from the daily mail.

Yet, the parents had the frame of mind to go home and check to see if the gun was still where the father said he left it. When he found it was not there he called 911.

In my own mind I look at these cursory facts and think: If the parents even thought for a moment that the kid might have the gun (hence the need to check for it), then they should have taken him out of school. Similarly, the school admin should have called the resource officer or other authorities based on what the behavior of the student.

“shall cause or allow any firearm under his immediate control”

The immediate control clause was not met.

And MI has no “safe storage” law.

The parents committed no crime.

Stupid is not a crime.

When it was stolen, it was no longer “under his immediate control”. It was clearly stolen because he called immediately and reported it missing. People are not held criminally responsible for what the thief does with their stolen gun. Also who actually owned the gun? The dad bought it and it was his, so why was the mom arrested? Was her name anywhere on the 4473?

Dig deeper in that box of Cracker Jacks where you got your law degree.

They need to get some BLM T-shirts and wear them every time they appear in public.

That statute doesn’t apply against either parent because the gun was not in their immediate possession when it discharged.

That’s not how I’ve read it in numerous reports. We do know the kid remained in school....and the parents did resist removing him.

I personally believe the teachers should be required to notify police if they see a problem rather than go through the administrators etc.

Running does not look good for them.

The complicating factor here is that the father bought the gun for the kid.

One can argue all they want about whether they allowed him access to the gun, but the fact that the father bought it and the mother took him out for some range time is NOT going to work in their favor.

They also ignored clear warning signs of a very disturbed kid and gave him the gun anyways, instead of taking it away from him.

“under his immediate control,”

Who had immediate control of the weapon?

They’re in a world of trouble, and they know it.

Every American needs a go bag at this point. Go to the Mexican side of town and buy a new Birth Certificate, and ID. Get a passport, 10k in Bitcoin, and a little cash.

If you are wealthy or a nomad, then yeah maybe you can do that. For rest of us, we are staying put. This is America. Our country. We are not going to allow the Left to steal it from us.

I didn’t know that the parents said the gun was locked up and Ethan must have stolen it. That puts a bit if a new wrinkle on things.

If it’s true.

You miss the point. Not everybody, not now. But normal peopel should have a kit on standby. When you are like that cop in Minnesota with George Floyd, when you are someone that the entire government has decided to make a political example of. When you are Snowden. etc.

Only a retard goes to prison for life to make a point.

“Biometric locks.”

No, just NO!

How many times have you tried to unlock your iPhone with your fingerprint, and it fails? And your spouse or child has needed to get into your phone and can’t, without your finger and without a passcode? And you want a tool as important for self-defense as a firearm to locked up with a horribly failure-prone system that also keeps out your spouse and children who might need it too?

No, just NO!

>>>So, where are all the incarcerated black parents of BLM terrorists?<<<

Many of those BLM (and antifa) terrorists are white.

And most leftist terrorists are grown "adults" themselves.

By the time I was 15 my Pop had bought me several guns including a handgun. All were kept in my closet.

According to prosecutors, the gun was stored in an unlocked safe inside Jennifer and James' bedroom.

It is a worth hunt. Too many points have come out that should not have known except through the trial. (Texts and bank info for starters)

This is about WAY more than the shooting. The prosecutor is a jerk

That’s what I was going to say. Sure it’s 1/2 a mile from Canada. On the other side of the Detroit river. A relatively fast flowing ‘strait’ not really a river.

This time of the year for sure it would be suicidal to swim it as the water temperature is around 40 degrees. That leaves the The Ambassador Bridge or The Detroit - Windsor Tunnel to get to Canada. These borders have been all but closed due to COVID & likely would be tough to get through when on the lamb.

So stupid!
