The fugitive parents of accused Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley broke down in court Saturday morning as their charges were read aloud.

James, 45, and Jennifer, 43, Crumbley were captured early Saturday in the basement of a building on the 1100 block of Bellevue Street in Detroit, less than half a mile from the Canadian border, police confirmed.

They were taken into custody after leading authorities on a large-scale manhunt.

Per state law, if the state can prove that the gun was stored improperly, the parents might be both criminally and civilly liable.

I don't believe that is the law in Michigan.

More Hype……..they were 5-6 miles from the nearest entrance to Canada (the tunnel). Customs are notified when Police are looking for suspects. So it’s not like they can just waltz right into Canada.

It's an attempt to intimidate other parents who own guns. The message is clear: IF your kid uses a gun in your house to hurt/kill others....you're just as guilty.

It's another form of gun control.

However, there is more to this story.

Conservatives should know not to believe the initial narrative from the media.

Remember...they are advancing a narrative for a purpose.

“ Just the text message saying, “don’t do it” Is more then enough to find the mother at least guilty‘

My bet is she’ll say she was afraid he was going to kill himself too and she was begging him not to.

The big reason for going after these parents is they are white.

To the media, that makes them fair game. The fact they are gun owners is a double plus good reason. (Orwell, 1984 reference)

Right....from what I read how lock boxes for guns isn’t required in their state.

And therein lies the problem. It’s painfully obvious that our “judicial system” has been sorely and deliberately compromised. Between the Soros owned and operated “prosecutors” and “judges”, it is one hot mess that needs a complete overhaul. Just like the rest of the government.

“Per state law, if the state can prove that the gun was stored improperly, the parents might be both criminally and civilly liable.”

So another stupid gun law “rears its ugly head.”

Anybody want to bet, a bunch of Michigan Republicans were completely ok with this stupidity.

Our law system looks like a bad joke.

Not required in most states.

From what they’ve written it’s pretty easy to tell they are very untrustingl of the government and authorities. She appears rather confrontational since they refused to take their son out of school when all that was evidenced showed there was a very serious problem.

I understand the father phoned 911 because his gun was missing.

It is. The language is a bit fuzzy, but if the parents didn’t have that gun locked up, they are screwed. Kid might have known the code, had the key, but the state would have to prove the parents didn’t give it him.

But if the parents had zero means of restricting his access to the gun and the state can prove that, they are pretty much screwed and make a dandy burnt offering to appease the masses infuriated by the fact that so many knew so much and did nothing.

Unless you can show me that they trained the boy specifically in order to shoot up a school, their actions have no bearing 0on what their child did.

Yes, and in cases where someone dies of a massive heart failure due to self-inflicted illegal drugs there can't possibly be a murder charge against someone.

I agree that as usual the DA has overcharged. Criminal negligence for sure based on what I have heard and read. These parents certainly appear to be culpable in allowing the kid to get his hands on a gun and being in total denial that he was getting ready to do something crazy.

So, where are all the incarcerated black parents of BLM terrorists?

Are the jails in Chicago full of parents of teenage gangbanger murderers?

Same question for Detroit.

All of a sudden, two working class whites are dragooned for their kid’s insanity. Supposedly the have past problems of their own, but who knows...the mediots distort everything for their own narrative.

So now they did it?

Does Steve Binger work for the Oakland DA’s office now?

Of course.....their son created this witch hunt on himself and his parents....I choose to see the son as the shooter who murdered and injured many kids both physically and otherwise. However the parents didn’t appear to have any sense nor co-operation when it came to their son regarding his obvious signals before nor after the schools attempts to control the situation.

Not surprisingly it’s a school shooting with multiple victims so it’s going to be national news and we know the media will spin the story to keep the public engaged on a daily basis.

Even if they got to Canada, they’d be extradited back to the US.

Hype is exactly what this is.

It appears at least there’s negligence charges and that’s without question. Somethings wrong that just three hours before the shooting the parents refused to remove their son from the school with plenty of evidence there was a serious problem with him.

I’ll try.

The boy, to my knowledge, was not the owner of the gun. It is the responsibility of the owner to not let this type of action occur with their weapon. If he got the gun, from their charge, they are responsible:

752.861 Careless, reckless or negligent use of firearms; penalty.

Sec. 1. Any person who, because of carelessness, recklessness or negligence, but not wilfully or wantonly, shall cause
or allow any firearm under his immediate control, to be discharged so as to kill or injure another person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 2 years, or by a fine of not more than $2,000.00, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 1 year, in the discretion of the court.

https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Publications/Firearms.pdf

page 155

Because they were negligent in the control of the weapon, they can go to jail or be fined, depending on the decision of the court. And they can be placed in state imprisonment.
