Alec Baldwin says he did not pull the trigger in fatal 'Rust' shooting incident: 'I would never'

Alec Baldwin alleged that he did not pull the trigger on the gun that fired resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in a preview for an upcoming televised interview on Thursday night.

It was announced on Wednesday that Baldwin will sit down for his first formal interview about the fatal shooting that took place on the set of the indie-Western film "Rust." In a preview for the tell-all, Baldwin addresses the fact that he was holding a gun that was somehow loaded with a live bullet that should not have been on the set at all, let alone in an actor’s hand.

During the preview, which is heavily edited for the purpose of teasing the larger interview that’s set to air Thursday evening, an emotional Baldwin states unequivocally that he did not pull the trigger.

"The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger," Baldwin told George Stephanopoulos.

This was a single action revolver. Not only did someone have to pull the trigger, someone had to pull back the hammer before pulling the trigger. If the hammer is not cocked, pulling the trigger would do nothing on a single-action revolver.

Seat Baldwin at a 5’ wide table and make it so he can’t reach across it.

Load the pistol he used to murder the woman and place it on the table, directly opposite him and pointed right at him.

No one touches it after it has been placed on the table.

As a former tv/film crew member and producer, it might be that Alec is arrogant enough to think that the crew will perjure themselves for his butt. Maybe a newbie PA would, but seasoned crew will likely have no hesitation in burying him.

It’s interesting. If you go into prisons and interview inmates who are in for murder via fireams the vast majority will say the exact same thing. They all will say “the gun went off”. Doesn’t mean a thing and must be some built in human defense mechanism.

As I was reading your comment I thought of something.

It might be possible that leftist snowflakes who have no clue about firearms may actually believe that they can "go off" without a trigger pull.

They have been conditioned that firearms are dangerous, especially because they can "go off half cocked" as the saying goes.

In fanning, I think the trigger is held back. Otherwise, the hammer is simply cocked. If the hammer is only partially pulled back, it should turn the primer away from where the partially cocked hammer falls. Correct me if I am wrong.
