The Salvation Army recently defended an internal racism guide that discouraged "colorblindness" and encouraged staff members to "apologize for being white" after the guide faced backlash.
The Salvation Army argued the new guide was meant to encourage discussion about racism among members of the Salvation Army. The organization denied attempting to indoctrinate or tell its donors what to think, reminding people that the guide was meant for internal use.
"The Salvation Army has occasionally published study guides on various complex topics, including race, to help foster positive conversations and reflection among Salvationists," the Thursday statement said. "The hope is that by openly discussing these issues, we can encourage a more thoughtful organization that is better positioned to serve those in need. These guides are solely designed for internal use. No one is being told how to think. Period."
The group also denied suggesting the U.S. is inherently racist and said it did not tell people to apologize for "being white."
"Those claims are false, and they distort the very goal of our work," the Salvation Army wrote in the statement. "The truth is that The Salvation Army believes that racism is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity, and we are called to work toward a world where all people are loved, accepted, and valued. Our positional statement on racism makes this clear."
The Salvation Army Color Us United organization, which advocates for uniting the U.S. rather than separating it by color, recently put out a petition condemning the Salvation Army's racism guide.
"Anti-racism, being one perspective among many (and one that rejects other approaches) consequently invalidates any other view of race," the petition said. "By proxy, we believe The Salvation Army has nullified any other avenue of exploring the very complex issue of race."
The guide, "Let's Talk About Racism," created by the Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission and released earlier this year, recommended white people within the charitable organization "lament, repent and apologize for biases or racist ideologies held and actions committed." It also told people to stop being "color blind" because it would allegedly ignore the things that God intended to be different among cultures.
Walmart, in a similar manner, has trained employees in critical race theory, which argues U.S. institutions are inherently racist, and even government entities, such as branches of the U.S. military, have allegedly used the theory in training.
We have seen this time and time again in once great institutions. The left infiltrates their operative into key positions. Once they control the organization all its original motivations and intentions are striped.
If the organizations survives that's great the left now controls it for its own ends. If it goes under that's great as well as the original organization was standing it the way of the lefts "progress".
Oh well, the donations probably go to feed and clothe illegals anyway.
I always gave generously in the past. More so when they got kicked out of places like Target. Not one penny more.
We got the email this morning. SA said they are removing the materials for re-evaluation, and vehemently denied the charges they told all white donors that they’re racists.
Prima facie proof that they're guilty as charged.
Go woke, go broke.
I have made my last donation to the Salvation Army, an organization I had supported in the past.
But it is tarnishing the whole brand. The USA branch has acknowledged the document and stated that it is not mandatory and also wrongly interpreted from it's original intent.
My solution would be to ensure that nothing you give to the SA goes beyond local.
Anything the Left touches turns to crap. Part of the plan. FWIW, Goodwill also has a SJW in HR.
our local bell ringers are doing this for community service anyhow
Some of the Black employees were the kindest and friendliest you could ever want to meet. Others were downright nasty and spiteful.
Same way with the Hispanics. Most gracious, a few otherwise.

Pretty much describes all of humanity.
Oh puhlease. Wokeism ain’t no way to raise folks hopes.
Next, Muslim bell ringers?
Tell me again how Western Civilization just bellied up in the end.
Ask Not for whom the clang dings, it dings for thee, Honky Mo’!
Really stupid on their part. Every day we read about some woke corporation, and some of us vow to boycott them or simply stop buying their products. It can be hard, depending on how addicted to the products someone is. But few people are addicted to contributing money to a charity organization. If there’s is one thing that is easy to do without, it is giving away money to wokesters. RIP, SA.
No more change for the pot.
Well you better release it in a hurry or people will believe the worst. However the publishers of this type of training often require that it not be released publicly, like it is the highest level of $¢i€nto£og¥ training, and public release could screw up sales.
I could see this going three ways. One is that SA is still a good organization and someone outside is chumming the water with this story to get us to turn on them. Second is that they could be going "full woke" in which case it is best to kick them to the curb. The third is that they tried to hire a "let's all be nice to one another" trainer and got a "full woke" one instead.
So sad!..... I’ve given so much to them as a supporter, bell ringer and even many times showing up with my accordion to play a bunch of Christmas tunes..... people gather and fill their red bucket...... I’M FINISHED!!
They can go Salvtionate themselves.
Yeah. I read these documents a few days ago that had been linked in an earlier post.
I think they mean, as internal documents, they aren’t telling anyone outside the organization how to think.
We will see if this new fertilizer bears good fruit.
every business that has a “Social Justice Commission” should be boycotted.
