Biden administration rolls back religious exemptions for adoption agencies

The Biden administration Thursday said it would rescind religious-freedom protections granted to child welfare agencies and require them to place children with LGBTQ families and to people of other faiths.

The move will “further civil rights and equal opportunity for all people, irrespective of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and religion,” according to a press statement from the Department of Health and Human Services.

The waivers — granted under President Trump to the states of Michigan, South Carolina, and Texas and to select child welfare agencies in those states — had dropped nondiscrimination requirements based on religious objections, HHS said.

There’s nothing that prevents Catholic Charities from processing adoptions for Catholics. They just won’t get paid by Caesar for it.

All adoptions in all 50 states are heavily regulated. The home study alone requires all sorts of jumping through hoops. This has nothing to do with state subsidies.

The home study alone requires all sorts of jumping through hoops.

Imagine that … state-regulated “home study” about raising children. Is there a similar home study program that teaches people how to take a dump?

Adoption is a legal term. If you are talking about being a step-father or step-mother that's something different. If you want legal say over the child's medical treatment, how he is educated, even for a Baptism, crossing international boundaries, etc., having legal custody is more than just a convenience. We have adopted three children, none subsidized.

Religious organizations should just get over themselves and get out of the business of advancing paganism through their government contracts. There's no damn good reason to take government money as part of any charitable undertaking.

In all fairness to the Biden administration, he is trying to balance that part of the constitution that protects freedom of religion and the part of the constitution that states that butt sex is the same thing as true love.

AND the repeal of slavery only means that REAL humans cannot be treated as property, and this does not apply to children which are not FULLY human.
