Long Islander fire fighters are not paid. They have jobs and fight fires on their own time.
NYC fire fighters are highly paid and it’s their only job.
Why would unpaid fire fighters show up to fight fires because the Mayor of NYC is an a**hole who made a monumental stupid decision?

Firefighters don’t spend most of their time putting out fires.
They spend most of their time providing services to their electorate, usually in the form of medical services to older voters.
So do you remember when they begged nurses to come from around the country when this mess started? Then they clobbered them with state taxes. Now they fire their own people and come a begging to be bailed out.

Does that mean they aren’t getting paid and are expected to not show up at their regular full time jobs that they earn money at to support their families?
And for how long?
Remember when NYC begged for nurses to come help them through the opening covid “emergency”?
And then charged them all NY state and city taxes on their paychecks? Which was in addition to the state taxes from wherever they came in from.
And now what? Gonna force all these volunteers to get the death-jab too?
There’s a special kind of stupid in the air these days.
Last year, dancing nurses were the heroes, twenty years ago, fireman and police were the heroes. All forgotten in the days of covid vaccines.
When NYC burns and the insurance companies take the financial hit, maybe we’ll see fewer of their woke “blacks-smart/whites-dumb” commercials

Deblasio and his administration are idiots. In the Orange County town I grew up in and volunteered in, a majority of our fire line officers were FDNY members and many FFs were NYPD officers. Good luck with that.
