NYC begs for volunteer firefighters from Long Island and Upstate...

NYC has issued a state-wide call for firefighters from both Long Island and Upstate New York as one-third of city firefighters remain unvaccinated ahead of the November 1 deadline, leaving 26 firehouses shuttered.

About 72 percent of FDNY workers have been vaccinated ahead of the November 1 deadline, meaning that up to 4,000 workers may be terminated from the department.

The message was sent through email as nearly 350 potential volunteer firefighters were tagged.

Exactly. Vollies usually work a full time job, then spend time away from family for training, meetings, etc. in addition to responding to calls, etc. Do these idiots really think they can just take time off work for fun to learn the policies of NYC and learn where they keep the tools on the trucks, etc. in their free time?

Long Island and other areas, which is much more suburban and single family style vs. NYC hi-rises, are two different beasts. One is pull some hose off the engine across the fron yard to a 2 story single family or single story big box store vs putting out a restaurant fire on the first floor, then trying to look for and chase any extension in a 10 story residential building above.

But OF COURSE they’re begging:

Firefighters don’t spend most of their time putting out fires.

They spend most of their time providing services to their electorate, usually in the form of medical services to older voters.

So do you remember when they begged nurses to come from around the country when this mess started? Then they clobbered them with state taxes. Now they fire their own people and come a begging to be bailed out.

Volunteers?

Does that mean they aren’t getting paid and are expected to not show up at their regular full time jobs that they earn money at to support their families?

And for how long?

Remember when NYC begged for nurses to come help them through the opening covid “emergency”?

And then charged them all NY state and city taxes on their paychecks? Which was in addition to the state taxes from wherever they came in from.

And now what? Gonna force all these volunteers to get the death-jab too?

There’s a special kind of stupid in the air these days.

Scabs are those who cross a picket line and take the jobs of those on strike. That is not the case here, as there are no picket lines and no one is on strike.

You are, of course, correct that - strictly speaking - they are not "scabs." The unvaxxed NYC firemen are not "on strike." Rather, the situation is better described as a "shut-out" - which is the inverse of a "strike," when an employer locks his gates and refuses to let his employees in to work.

But ethically speaking, I think that the characterization is fair. NYC is asking outsiders to come in and perform the work of the workers who have been prevented from doing the work. In fact, they are worse than scabs, since the unvaxxed NYC firemen would be happy to continue doing their jobs under the previous, long-standing conditions (i.e., they aren't refusing to work because they are, e.g., demanding higher pay).

They spend most of their time providing services to their electorate, usually in the form of medical services to older voters.

Wrong choice of words! Don't adopt leftist terminology! The firefighters provide services to everyone living in the given district - and a big fraction of those are illegal aliens who, of course, can't legally participate in elections.

Sorta like here in Germany, where Federal Chancellors routinely speak to their "ausländische Mitbürger und Mitbürgerinnen" - i.e., to their "foreign compatriots" (!).

Last year, dancing nurses were the heroes, twenty years ago, fireman and police were the heroes. All forgotten in the days of covid vaccines.

Debazzario must be realizing his game of chicken is a lost and pride would rather the city become a fire bombing of Dresden than back down.

When NYC burns and the insurance companies take the financial hit, maybe we’ll see fewer of their woke “blacks-smart/whites-dumb” commercials

What’ll they do if the volunteers won’t jab up?

On the other hand, since there are less police hunting blacks for sport, there’ll be less riots and therefore less fires./S

“They don’t deserve it.”

The small businessmen whose shops are targets of BLM arsonists, and who can’t leave for greener pastures, do not deserve having to watch helplessly while their life’s work is burnt to the ground as the slime cheer.

The NYC government big wigs like DeBlasio don’t deserve it, but it’s not their homes and businesses that will be set on fire.

I am sure that same quote is in other movies, but it is definitely in Saving Private Ryan. Sorry for using YouTube. I wish there were other sites with these kinds of clips:
