“...but thanks to the selfishness of former President Donald Trump”
Stopped reading right there.
Whatever points stossel was trying to make were rendered irrelevant with his telling of this one big lie.
Despite his “Libertarian” ideology, I am convinced that Stossel very much dislikes Conservatives like Donald Trump, and much prefers Progressives like Biden.
It’s a shame you stopped reading right there. The rest of the article made some great points.
It would be like someone dropping a loose greasy turd in a punchbowl and then attempting to drink only the "clean" punch.
obviously he must think President Trump was selfish because he gave up his entire pay check and donated it instead to worthy causes.
Congress was lost in 2018 mid term. How selfish was Trump then after years in office?

You beat me to it. I am a fan of John Stossel. But that completely unnecessary dig put me off the rest of the article. Try again, Mr. Stossel.
“but thanks to the selfishness of former President Donald Trump, Democrats control Congress”
I don’t get this at all. Why the gratuitous insult to Trump? It is evident that Dems stole the GA election and the subsequent senate rates with fraudulent mail in votes.
Trump’s coat tails added to the number Republicans in the house and a 50-50 senate while he supposedly lost in 2020. He campaigned hard for Republican candidates and all he got back was disloyalty and back stabbing.
If Trump graciously accepted defeat in the face of overwhelming evidence of fraud would GA Republicans have done better? No.
I can’t stand the blindness of no Trumpers.
In addition to the link I sent you which explains my feelings perfectly I might add that Stossel never gave even ONE example of what he considers to be selfishness on the part of Trump and what this tells me is he is nothing more than an anti Trump phony.
I used to be a fan of Stossel but no more.
I think you’re missing that point about our criticism of Stossel‘s “selfishness” comment. As I see it, such a comment would be quite appropriate if Stossel was discussing Trump’s faults (and yes, he has many).
But Stossel is discussing something else entirely. So that “selfishness” comment was both unnecessary and unhelpful. It would be as if he had said something insulting about opera fans, then went on to discuss Climate Change.
Jesus, there is no example because the article was not about Trump. It was a comment in passing and totally irrelevant to Stossel’s main point. SMH
He probably had to insult DT so whoever signs his paycheck won’t have a problem with him.
On that point, I agree with you. I also agree with you that he has faults. He is not perfect; none of us are. Still, if you mention even one slight criticism of Trump, his worshippers come after you with a vengeance.
Disclosure: I voted for Trump twice.
“his worshippers”

“Jesus, there is no example because the article was not about Trump.”
Of course the article, at least by the headline was not about Trump. I don’t really know since as I said I stopped reading.
So know you can tell us (in your opinion) just WHY Stossel inserted that gratuitous slam on Trump if the story had nothing to do with him.
