No lawyer, but the judges remarks suggest a strong bias, so maybe they can appeal.
It seems all might take to knock down this house of cards would be one favorable ruling for one defendant, or ‘official’ acknowledgement or recognition anywhere that fraud altered the outcome. Then you could say the actions of defendants were undertaken to preserve the government, etc.
That might win in front of a jury, say in Loudon County.
Call me romantic I guess, but I still think sometimes right gives might.

A few years ago the Blue Angels did a show at an Air Force base not far from me.It was my first time on an Air Force base and I was intrigued by the huge paved area we were on...until it occurred to me "of course they'd need this to park aircraft and allow them to maneuver".
While wandering around I was suddenly taken aback seeing a line on the pavement and the words "No Entry:Lethal Force Authorized".
I nearly soiled myself...and then moved away slowly. ;-)

Sounds like grounds for appeal due to malicious prosecution to me. They pled guilty so that kind of kills the malicious prosecution angle.
