The teenage gunman who opened fire in an Arlington, Texas, school on Wednesday has been released on bond, a day after pulling a gun from his backpack and shooting a 'bully', a teacher and one other girl.
Timothy George Simpkins was being held on a $75,000 bond on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but the 18-year-old walked out of Tarrant County Jail on Thursday afternoon.
Simpkins said nothing as he strode out of the jail in a blue t-shirt, matching baseball cap worn backwards, and jeans.
It's unclear why he has been charged with aggravated assault and not attempted murder or more serious charges, or why the judge granted him bail.
A video of their fight was posted on social media by Simpkins' cousin on Wednesday night in an effort to prove that he was being bullied.
It shows Simpkins - who was identified by police as wearing a light colored hoodie in the footage - being pummeled by the other boy, who is three years his junior, while holding his hands around his head.
Once the fight was over, he went to his orange backpack, pulled out of his gun and started shooting.
He shot the other boy 'seven to eight times', according to one student who was interviewed by police, and also shot 25-year-old Calvin Pettitt, a teacher who had tried to break up the fight. Pettitt was shot in the back.
Both he and the 15-year-old boy remain in the hospital. Pettitt is expected to survive and is in a good condition but the 15-year-old boy is in critical condition.
A third victim - a teenage girl - suffered a graze wound but is no longer in the hospital.

Attempted murder.
he is a huge danger to society.....
JAIL him....
He is out on a $75,000 bond. He’ll get a trial at some point
which is when he’ll get the final decision as to his final
punishment for the criminal acts.
Notice to stalkers and bullies: If someone finally gets fed up with your sh1t and kills you, he won’t get in that much trouble for it.
Bttt
I think they will find him hung in tree. Suicide. No note.
Hi.
There might not be two sets of laws in the U.S., but it sure as hell seems that way.
Too much evidence to disagree.

We had rifles at school every day.. high powered ones.
So did our school....although the pick up trucks with rifles mounted in their windows had to park in a designated parking area near the classroom they taught gun safety .
Well that is certainly a relief. I personally was very concerned that the Hemi V8 in his pimped out 2018 silver Dodge Charger R/T was going to get messed up from sitting for too long. That is kind of like the high performance Pinto hatchback that I was lucky to be able to drive around when I was 18.
How did he get ahold of the $40,000 to buy it again? He must be very resourceful. Since you are an expert on the situation I thought that you might know.
I'm no expert on this... not by a long shot. But, from what I've seen, his family does have a lot of money. I'm sure the car was bought by them.
The justice system isn't through with this kid yet. He should go to trial. There he can make his case for leniency, and a jury can decide whether it's justified.
As I understand it (and, I'm no lawyer either) bonds are denied if the charged person is considered an imminent threat to others. The level of the bond is set by the judge's level of concern about whether the accused will show up for court hearings.
I don't know all the details. That's what hearings are for. I trust that the judge in this case felt $75k was enough.
If he was getting his ass whipped in the fight, that might change things slightly...though yeah, it’s still not stand your ground if you pull out the gun afterwards and light the bully up. He may get off more lightly because of the “Obama’s son” rule than a White attacker would, but even if this wasn’t in a school I don’t think it would qualify as “stand your ground.”
I can be sympathetic to kids getting bullied (as I was in junior high and high school) but that doesn’t mean this one’s justified.

Could have been a hallway fight? Or an elective class that any grade could take? Most high schools these days are grade 9-12, that’s anywhere from 14 to 18 or even 19 years old in the same building. That in and of itself is not surprising in a large public school warehouse.

He walks free while the arrested from jan 6 are still in jail?
Did the FBI go to his house at 5 am and drag him to jail?
American’s Voice showed the first video of the one with his head down to his chest and arms protecting from the hits and jabs from the other person. the hits and jabs were with all his strength and other kids were watching or getting out of the way.
the one hitting looked bigger than the one being hit.. but maybe it was just his head down under that looked that way.
if the one was taking care of a bully, is there a better way to do so.. and a gun in his back pack???
Kids that age think simple... letting him out tells him he can do it again and not get into trouble.
Timberview High School Teacher Calvin Pettitt, Shot At School Last Wednesday, Released From Hospital
Wonder how the vic got hit in the back with a stray bullet while trying to break up a fight?
And it looks to me like the perp is very lucky he's not up on at least one murder charge.
