The teenage gunman who opened fire in an Arlington, Texas, school on Wednesday has been released on bond, a day after pulling a gun from his backpack and shooting a 'bully', a teacher and one other girl.
Timothy George Simpkins was being held on a $75,000 bond on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but the 18-year-old walked out of Tarrant County Jail on Thursday afternoon.
Simpkins said nothing as he strode out of the jail in a blue t-shirt, matching baseball cap worn backwards, and jeans.
It's unclear why he has been charged with aggravated assault and not attempted murder or more serious charges, or why the judge granted him bail.
A video of their fight was posted on social media by Simpkins' cousin on Wednesday night in an effort to prove that he was being bullied.
It shows Simpkins - who was identified by police as wearing a light colored hoodie in the footage - being pummeled by the other boy, who is three years his junior, while holding his hands around his head.
Once the fight was over, he went to his orange backpack, pulled out of his gun and started shooting.
He shot the other boy 'seven to eight times', according to one student who was interviewed by police, and also shot 25-year-old Calvin Pettitt, a teacher who had tried to break up the fight. Pettitt was shot in the back.
Both he and the 15-year-old boy remain in the hospital. Pettitt is expected to survive and is in a good condition but the 15-year-old boy is in critical condition.
A third victim - a teenage girl - suffered a graze wound but is no longer in the hospital.

There are plenty of Soros owned and operated “judges”, too.
A woman acting as spokesperson for the family, Carol Harrison Lafayette, talked to reporters while standing with other relatives outside Simpkins’ home in Arlington on Wednesday evening. She said Simpkins had been bullied and robbed twice at school.
Arlington police said Simpkins was involved in a fight before he pulled out a .45-caliber handgun and open fired in a classroom. Video circulating on social media that was shared by other students appears to show the fight.
Harrison Lafayette said the video shows Simpkins was being attacked.

Absolutely. And just as many that support that team and don’t need the checks.
"I think you have it backwards." - Duhberg, right ahead!
From the article you did not read:
if they have so much money, why was the mutt NOT in some richkid private school?
But they will cash those checks just the same.
Well, the teacher was white so all is forgiven.
I wonder if he’ll shoot up the school again, considering that he wasn’t too successful the first time.
Really? Let me draw you a picture:
The left side dominates the right side in almost all things these days.
"Perhaps you'll trust the NBC5 article" that posted the arrest warrant...
Now tell me how the Tarrant County arrest warrant was faked, the NBC5 video was faked, the realtime video was faked, and that Pettitt was wearing the hoodie. C'mon monkey, dance.
Not likely.
Once the assault by the others ended, and he drew a firearm and shot, he was now the aggressor, he could have fled, sought protection from adults, etc.
The prosecutor likely is going to have ‘splaining to do. The judge too.
Once an assault ends, any re-igintion is a new incident.
I doubt the others said they were going to find him later etc.
Stinks of something.
So far, I haven’t seen a video of the beginning of the fight. What I have seen and heard is all from the shooter’s family, including his cousin who filmed the fight instead of getting in there to help his cousin. Time will make this a lot clearer.
It’s the judge who sets the bail in the very first hearing.
Depends, sometimes a county magistrate can do it too. At least in TX
I was guessing connected or black.
Not familiar with TX but I suppose it’s somewhat based on the lame charge of aggravated assault. I thought that was for fist fights, not shooting people.
Agg assault with a deadly weapon is extremely nasty in TX. You can just show an intruder at night on your property a gun to scare them away and if the cops find out you’ll be charged with it.
That said, this should be attempted murder instead. TX has weird laws and enforcement that depend on the person, city, county, and so on
