FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale
of our military and our allied military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

Good morning Everyone

We were at work by that time.
My office building was across the river from the Pentagon
but I hadn't heard what happened until I got a call asking if I was okay.
My windows faced the opposite direction so
I had run to another room to see across the river.
I could see the black smoke.
No one knew what was going on but one of the men
in the office turned on the tv in his office and that's when we knew.
I was stunned. We were glued to the tv most of the day.
Of course, there was no way to get off the base because traffic was backed up everywhere; sitting ducks too.

Forget? Never.
And for anyone trying to say that we need to stop
remembering those who perished due to evil because it incites hatred,
I say, remember Pearl Harbor?
Well, we remember still but do not hate all of the Japanese for what a few chose to do.
We know and knew who the enemy was that day.

I could not let this day go by without stopping to say
THANK YOU
to all of our Service HEROES!

Remember those who gave all!

I woke up to a wiped out computer. All my stuff is gone. I have to reconstruct all my templates.

I have nothing planned, and will gather here on FR to Remember 9/11.

FR is my FAMILY.

On 9/11 I was just waking up to go to work when the first plane hit. My mom called me and told me to turn on the TV that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I flipped on the news to Fox saw the smoke and my first thought was that someone at La Guardia was gonna get fired.

While Jon Scott is talking with someone about the crash...I see the second plane hit the South Tower. “That’s no accident that’s an attack” is what I said to myself as I quickly got dressed and sped down I-20 to work.

The radio station group I worked for has switched all 5 stations to the AM station which was broadcasting live updates from AP Radio News. That’s when I heard AP Reporter Ron Fournier’s voice crack as he said that a plane had just hit the Pentagon.

I went racing into my station with my Alert Roster (I was in the National Guard) in my hand. My General Manager (a former Force Recon Marine) asked me as I came in the door “are you gonna have to go?” I told him I didn’t kno yet I had to call in and see. He told me “if you have to leave just go don’t worry about the time off I’ll cover it.”

I remember on 9/11 leaving My wife’s house (we were just dating at the time) and looking towards downtown about 11pm on 9/11 and for the first time in my life seeing the whole of the Midland, Texas skyline shrouded in darkness. That’s when the reality and the gravity of the situation we were facing that day really began to set in with me. I didn’t sleep a wink that night...I just kept replaying what had transpired that day over and over in my head.

A month later I was on State Active Duty in Austin when the first NG soldiers started patrolling Bergstrom Airport and the bombing campaign in Afghanistan began.

Hi Tx.

I was on the base across the river from Reagan Airport and could see the black smoke from the Pentagon. If my family hadn’t called and told me to turn on the news, I would have assumed a local business was on fire.

We sat stunned as we watched the planes hit the towers and the towers start to fall.

I think I was more angry at our government than anything at that time. I had faith that this could never have happened after Pearl Harbor.

I fixed it as well as I could. Then I jumped onto the bike and rode, rode, rode.

I needed to get out.

Nice! It was about 68 here. Now it’s 94. Is it September or July?

Oh my goodness...extra pressure for her caregiver. I’m assuming the broken arm would have healed much easier than a shoulder broken in 4 places. Sending prayers for a healed shoulder without any replacement parts. Keep up the good work.
