GM announced that it has issued a recall on every single Chevy Bolt made to date due to the battery fire risk. The move comes after two previous recalls, which were aimed at specific models.
The Bolt was first recalled in November after five cars that hadn’t been in crashes caught fire. After investigating the problem further, Chevy recalled a second batch in July. The problem was traced to two manufacturing defects that could occur simultaneously. The defects—a torn anode tab and a folded separator—created conditions that could lead to a short in affected cells. So far, the company has identified 10 fires that involve faulty batteries, according to an AP report. This third and latest recall includes 73,000 Bolts made from 2019 to 2022, the current model year, and brings the total recall to nearly 142,000 cars, with over 100,000 having been sold in the US. GM estimates that the initial recalls will cost $800 million, and it expects the new one to add $1 billion to the total. GM said it will be seeking reimbursement from LG. […]

This country has been tinkering around with electric cars, wind and solar power for 40 years.
They are all cute inventions and technologies for lefties to point to and imagine that they will Save the Planet.
If any of them were going to ever be a thing, and actually power and move the country, it would have happened already. When Americans discover or invent something and its profitable and awesome, its a go.
Not happening.
I wouldn’t risk burning my house down by parking an electric vehicle in my garage. That alone rules out me buying an electric vehicle.
Governments are already demanding their citizens drive around in these Portable Cremation Machines
We’ve all been there.
My Brother dropped a 327 in his 56 Chevy Bel Air. He actually bought it from a Little Old Lady from Pasadena. It was Red / White and he repainted it Candy Apple Red.
He still has his 32 Ford (Model B) 5 Window Deuce Coupe.
It just sits in his Garage buried in Boxes.
I remember the day he bought the rolling Chassis for $325 back in 63. He dropped in a balanced / blueprinted 283, four speed close ratio Trans and a .456 Rear End. It could pop Wheelies. Built it all by himself to Drag Race.
As for me, I just watch Barrett Jackson and Mecum gritting my teeth as I see the many Cars I used to own going for tens to hundreds of thousands. They were just Cars when I was young. LOL
A mason doing some work for us just bought a ‘66 El Camino in Phoenix and trailered it up here to North Idaho. It looks really sweet. Not sure of the specs. He grew up learning to drive on his dad’s El Camino and has the nostalgia!
From the column:
“Until replacement batteries are ready and service appointments can be scheduled, GM has recommended that Bolt owners park their vehicles outside and limit their battery’s state of charge to 90 percent or lower. The company also recommended not letting the estimated range dip below 70 miles.”
My last vehicle spontaneously combusted while parked, engine off.
I find it hard to believe anything around Gastonia NC had much of any value. I grew up across the line. The place always seemed kind of dreary and after hurricane Hugo, never quite right.
California morons just had to reopen 5 natural gas plants.
They shoulda left all of them going. Great clean abundant source of energy.
Oh man .... I did the same thing with another post yesterday where I made a goof. There were over 100 comments before a FReeper caught it.
Good eye Mort Man! I will try to pay better attention
There’s one of those LT1 Caddies outside. It’s about to be scrapped because there don’t seem to be any reliable parts for the idiot Optispark ignition system any more and there’s not enough money in the budget to LSx swap it.
No, the cars in the 1950s weren’t good. Quite lethal for their occupants, actually.
You must be like the TFL guys on YouTube - got the only good Land Rovers ever made, get ahold of a new one that’s more average and breaks down all the time, can’t understand what’s going on and all their audience is telling them about their bad experiences with it.
The 2001 was highly prone to have undersigned piston slap. The 2011 statistically is going to have some ugly electronics and instrument problems.
Actually no. The Volt was supplemented then replaced by the two Bolt models.
It was LG who made them in a Chinese plant.
Hm, did not know there was a Bolt ! Maybe once people start getting electrocuted they’ll come out with the Jolt.
True about safety.
I replaced the plugs and coil packs just because it has 100K.
The only thing it's ever needed is battery, alternator and AC...
Not even shocks, but I am going to do the front suspension as well as shocks soon...just because.
Well, if so, the owner would be a Dolt. :P
Doesn’t MSD make a Pro-Billet distributor for the LT1? Or has their quality dropped in recent years?
