Charlie Watts, best known as the prolific drummer for the rock band the Rolling Stones for more than half a century, has died. He was 80. A representative for Watts told Fox News Tuesday that the musician "passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family." No cause of death was given yet.

Article didn’t say, other than he was in hospital for a “undisclosed medical procedure”.
I would have traded places with him.
I saw them for the first time in 2019. Charlie Watts was the best!! So sad.
No cause of death reported? My guess is they will later try and say that it was Covid just to add another death to the already fictitious total.
“they” & who may that they/them be ?
Saw them in 82 and thought that might be their last tour. Lol…
Sweet jazz.
He’s no Ringo.
My guess would be something related to cancer. 2004 was a tough year for Charlie.

Wasn’t at least their first album in Mono, instead of Stereo?
And much of their stuff was either covers or written by others, including one by Lennon/McCartney.

I still have their first LP’s and yes they are mono.
A lot of the early stuff was mono, and the early Stones’ songs were written by others, but they eventually got their own songs written and published.
They did a small venue tour in the early seventies. Winterland in SF held about 5k if I recall. Best line I ever stood in. For hours everyone was happy, the air was pungent, cops didnt care and when we got inside the Stones showed everyone they were the worlds greatest Rock band.
Please stop hitting the “post” button several times.
I saw them for the first time in 1966 in Philadelphia, and the second time in 1969 in Alabama, with Chuck Berry opening for them. Agree, Charlie earned his renowned place in rock history.
Sorry, my browser locked up and never responded.
Watts got married in 1964 - almost 57 years ago .
‘I remember them when I was in grade school, and I’m 67.’
I first heard of them in January 1964, when I was a mere frosh in high school...
I was out and about on my errands today when I heard the news, and I’ve been listening to Charlie Watts and the Stones every song since then. I am so sad and yet, Charlie entertained us all. Along with the others, but tonight, Charlie is my focus. I am a long time Stones fan, and I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to see them play live twice.
God bless Charlie Watts, the finest most humble drummer. God bless The Rolling Stones, too. He is sorely missed.
RIP, Charlie.
