“Start a war with this one. Whitney Huston’s version of the National Anthem”
The Jordan Sparks national anthem at the Super Bowl was far better than crack-ho Houston’s.
YIKES!
I agree but “Familiar Stranger” from that album is pretty good.....
Any Beatle tune... practically.
The screaming fanatics were a bit much.
Sergeant Pepper’s was listenable for about 2 weeks just with a set of headphones so you could pick up on all those little tiny things that George Martin and his engineers did in the studio.
One of my sisters actually ran away from home because she heard the Beatles song “She’s Leaving Home” and took it as inspiration. She hurt my parents deeply, and I have never really forgiven her for being an a******.
My pops used the play the album when I was a kid....I liked it...still do....
“rather listen to Muzak than that”
Paul Simon said “if you hear one of your songs on an elevator, you’ve made it”
Dad was into beautiful music and easy listening music and we had the easy listening music radio channel on in the kitchen all the time, I got to where I enjoy it.
You can’t find it anymore on the radio so I got some CDs and YouTube helps.
I guess I like melodic music, heavily treated.
I was on a Dutch ship in Guam finishing up some electrical work, and I was invited to the officers Lounge for refreshments. I go up to the officers Lounge when I finished my work at the end of the day and it was kind of a social event.
I’m standing there talking to my coworker on a Dutch ship, with Dutch officers, drinking a Heineken beer, and listening to ABBA music. How Dutch Can you get, without being Dutch?
So you’ve never heard the three or four pre-Perry Journey albums just after they split off of the Santana group?
Hey! Tom Sawyer is a great song - but even I cringe when it gets played so often.
The song that I thing should never be played again is from that commercial.
“K-A-R-S Cars for Kids, K-A-R-S ....”
As soon as I heard it I turn the radio off. But of course I forget to turn it back on in a minute. Then I yell at the radio - “Why do you play that when you KNOW that folks will turn off your station!!!???”
Couldn’t change the station....in my own car. Buddy was driving and WOULD not. Thanks to a hip to toe cast, I was a prisoner in the back seat. (Damned motorcycles)
MacArthurs Park.
Yellow Submarine.
Yellow Submarine.
Someone left the cake out in the rain.
As a music teacher, I have always been appalled at the fact that my students were being taught that song in Public Dchool as a kind of anthem. Then they would ask me to teach them how to play it on the piano. I hated the words so much that I encouraged the kids to write their own.
I lugged boxes of rock & roll vinyl around for decades (in my younger years). Loved those head-pounding sounds and the groups producing that stuff. As technology changed, the media got smaller and smaller until today...ALL of that music is on a thumbnail-size microSD card in the memory slot of my Android phone. If my phone dies...I just pull the card and go to the next phone.
All that being said, I hardly ever listen to the music on the card anymore. I just hit the Pandora icon and let it shuffle thru any of the 50 “stations” I’ve got lined up. And, I’ll confess, there’s a lot of easy-listening music on that list. Helen Jane Long, Ludivico Einaudi, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Clint Mansell & Kronos, Michelle McLaughlin, Stephen Moccio. Still love the rock & roll, still have the vinyl...but who knows what’s next in this life.
Since it became a list of songs people find horrible to hear, how are the 'Chipmunks' not listed repeatedly?
Oh, I'd like to have heard that interview. :-) Man, I miss Rush!
I saw him in Madison in 1976. First concert for me and the first time I ever saw Laser Lights! Ooooo! Ahhhh! LOL!
Who cares if we ‘creak’ as long as we can still dance! :)
Paper Lace! That’s a Blast From The Past! :)
