Kathy Griffin revealed she has lung cancer despite “never” smoking and will be undergoing surgery to have half of her left lung removed.
The comedian announced the news Monday morning in a lengthy note posted to social media, sharing that the cancer is stage 1 and “contained.”
“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed,” she began her letter on social media. “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.”
Griffin, 60, said she’s hopeful that she won’t need to get chemotherapy or radiation treatment after the surgery and “should have normal function with my breathing.”

“Despite ‘never’ smoking”? I’m sure she’s done plenty of pole smoking.
Would it sound unsympathetic of me to say, ‘she’ll smoke plenty once she gets to hell’? Because if it would, I won’t say it.
I extend all the same warm, get-well wishes that she and her ilk wished upon Rush after his lung cancer diagnosis.
I’m not surprised this happened to her.
When you have a boiling, festering, black canker mass for a heart, surely the cancerous hatred will seep from it and infect surrounding organs.
Get her a mask ... a really big mask!
Dad was a two packs a day smoker for 30 years. He had a heart attack in his early 50’s and quit cigarettes. He did, soon after, start smoking a pipe.
Soon after his heart attack he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Fifteen years or so after his first heart attack, he had a second and needed triple bypass.
One day he complained of being short of breath. They took him to a heart hospital and for three days could not determine what his problem was. In frustration, he grabbed a Sharpie from a nurse, hiked up his hospital johnnie, and put an “X” on his upper abdomen. “Look here! It hurts here!”
They discovered a thumb-print sized hole in his stomach that now had been pumping stomach acids into his abdominal cavity for three days. The damage was done. He died of multiple organ failure a few days later.
All this to say I now have the attitude of when it is your time, it is your time. One would have thought that Dad would die of heart failure, or lung cancer, or maybe complications of diabetes. Nope, taken out by an ulcer, when he had never had an ulcer before in his life.
Lots of non-smokers get lung cancer; the second biggest cause (after smoking) is radon exposure - and everybody is exposed to radon. Everybody.

There is also the particulates in diesel exhaust containing known carcinogens. Good friend’s wife had lung cancer and lost the “battle”. She never smoked. Did live in a major metro area next to a major traffic artery(8 lanes wide, major congestion of vehicles and exhaust, twice per day, 5 day a week, for over a decade).
Awww, what a shame... hey, what’s for dinner?
I somehow doubt that she never smoked. Not because of the cancer but I always doubt these people
Steak from the university butcher shop (ag school), Gore corn (no idea some WV thing), probably potatoes.
