Kevin McCarthy: 'Mike Pence is not a Traitor'

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has defended Mike Pence after the former Vice President was booed and called a 'traitor' at a Faith & Freedom Coalition event in Orlando Friday.

McCarthy appeared on Fox News on Friday evening and defended Pence after he was heckled by the crowd at the 'Road to Majority'-themed event.

'It is great to be back with so many patriots. Dedicated to faith and freedom and the road to the majority,' Pence had said.

As he began thanking Ralph Reed, the head of the Faith & Freedom coalition, he was met with boos and people loudly shouting 'traitor!'

But speaking to Fox's Brian Kilmeade, McCarthy said: 'Mike Pence is not a traitor'.

My opinion hasn’t changed, but I’m still not really sure what Pence is exactly. There’s more unseen than seen.

So many people and things nowadays simply aren’t as they appear to be, so we’ll just have to wait to see what we can’t see now.

For us in the glass bottom boat, the light just doesn’t penetrate down to the levels where the most interesting things are happening.

From his window on things, Putin called President Trump “an extraordinary individual” and called Biden a political ‘career man’.

He got that right. I wonder what his call on Pence might be.

From my window on things and what I’m seeing, I’m praying to God that He has Mercy on Pence and Biden and on all the rest of us sinners, too. Yikes!

Did Mike Pence stand up for Trump supporters? Did he stand up and say there were some bad actors but the great majority of the people at the Capitol were good, decent Americans who had as much right to be at the Capitol as the ridiculous Handmaids had to be there for the Kavanaugh hearings, or the morons beating on the doors of the Supreme Court. No, he condemned them, tarred them all with the same brush. What did he think was going to happen when he showed his face?

Pence was appointed to lead the states in cleaning up voter rolls. Trump knew early this would be a big problem in the mid-terms and 2020. Pence got push-back from the states and dropped the issue after six months.

If all Pence ever did was to keep chipping away at that problem, got some traction, and made the difference in 2020, he’d be a hero and a front-runner.

The thing is, the guy that ended pursuit on cleaning up voter rolls wasn’t about to reject certifcates that the states handed to him on January 6.

IMO, Pence will be remembered as Trump’s VP and that’s about it.

Granted, Pence has been weak in certain areas, such as COVID. But can somebody show us the Constitutional or statutory provision by which Pence had the authority to declare, in effect, “This elevate was crooked, so I am not going to allow Biden to be sworn in.”
