Hadn’t caught that. Thanks for the clarification. No matter how you feel, it’s Israel’s loss. Netanyahu was a fierce protector of Israel and did not capitulate or negotiate with the animals in the M.E.
Iran’s stuff might stop exploding.
He did what he did because that's what leaders of countries do. They congratulate newly elected leaders of other countries.
I'm sure what he did, did hurt Trump's feelings at all. You know he had conversations with Trump as well.
There are no absolutes in life. Remember, Trump used to be a democRAT.
I was disgusted by that.
No one in the US has nothing to do with this.
Every member of the opposition leadership is a protege of Benjamin Netanyahyu and started their political careers as staunch supporters and defenders of the man. Each one served his government and each one was screwed over and lied to by the dear Bibi multiple times.
The new prime minister, Naftali Bennett, served not only as Netanyahu's Defense Minister and Education Minister, but began his journey as Netanyahu's Chief of Staff.
Bennett is also to the poitical right of Netanyahu.
These people --- Bennett, Lapid, Lieberman, Gantz, Saar, Shaked et al --- know Netanyahu best and finally joined forces to stop Netanyahu's two year rampage of dissolving two governments and dragging the nation through four elections ---- and primed to take it into a fifth.
Netanyahu, Israel's ground zero of the deep state, needed to be shown the door.
Now Israel has the space to learn it is greater than one corrupt politician.
“I USED to respect him a lot. Then, within hours of Biden’s “win”, Bibi called to congratulate him. After all PDJT had done for Israel ...”
As our closest ally in the middle east, what would you have Bibi do? He was being gracious, that didn’t mean he supported Biden. He and Trump were very close. A lot of nattering nabobs of negativity here.
I have no problem with Bibi losing his job—that sort of thing happens in a democracy— but I don’t fault him for congratulating Biden. As someone once said nations do not have friends, they have interests. Faced with a likely hostile new American presidency Bibi chose to make the best of a bad hand and hedge his bets. Even if Trump had somehow pulled out the win he would not have tossed Israel under the bus because of Bibi but a vindictive Biden could have made things a lot worse.
I didn’t know that there was this division between Israelis until Mark Levin was posting about it.
> “No one in the US has nothing to do with this.”
Wrong. Right off the bat, not true.
Obama campaign sent operatives to oust Bibi in the past. That’s fact and was discussed thoroughly here in FR.
I'm not wrong. I don't care what Obama did in the past. What happened today is all Netanyahu's doing.
Netanyahu disolved his own government --- twice --- without any help from Obama or anyone else in the US. Netanyahu dragged his nation by the nose through four elections in two years without any help from Obama or anyone else in the US.
And all by himself Netanyahu was lying his arse off trying to derail the new government so he (Bibi) could remain the caretaker prime minister through the fifth round of elections --- and the sixth ---- and the seventh.
Netanyahu's chaos had to be stopped. He never believed his former proteges would join forces and form a government without him. But today, they proved Netanyahu wrong and these Israeli patriots rose to the occasion.
We'd do well to wish them luck and Godspeed.
This is very sad news. Israel has no clue what they’ve done to themselves.
Can’t say much since America did much the same.
I wouldn’t use the word “interesting”. But if so, it may be briefly interesting and ultimately terrifying. I doubt Hamas aka Iran gives the new Israeli gov’t any kind of honeymoon period. Instead, I believe Iran will work to test this new gov’t. And they will undoubtedly find a less worthy and certainly less aggressive opponent.
Agreed, 100%.
The Liberals have been fighting to take over Israel. Now they have. The Arabs will over run them before they know what happened.
> “What happened today is all Netanyahu’s doing.”
Wrong again.
Netanyahu has both sides attacking him.
Likud is NOT popular in Israel. You support them and are celebrating Netanyahu’s loss.
Likud will widen the war and draw Israel into conflicts that could otherwise be avoided. That’s what your side wants, that’s what your side gets.
“I am sorry to learn this.”
That was my first thought, too. I fear for Israel.
He got hosed. The Israelis have their own crowds of shiffs and raskins. The bad guys pulled him down.
Opinions are like assholes, as we know. I respect loyalty. Netanyahu could have waited a respectful amount of time to be “gracious” instead of hot-footing in an embarrassing small amount of time to slobber over an obvious cheater.
It won’t matter to the perpetual Israel pole smokers of FR.
Let the healing began... Stupid is as stupid does....
