Benjamin Netanyahu, the longest serving Israeli leader, was ousted as prime minister on Sunday after the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, voted to form a new government made up of a coalition of opposition groups pledging to heal caustic divisions caused by Netanyahu’s 12-year rule.
Netanyahu had failed to form a government after a March 23 election — the fourth in two years — and could not block the power-sharing agreement between the groups, headed by his former defense minister Naftali Bennett and opposition leader Yair Lapid.
Bennett and Lapid will each serve two years as prime minister on a rotating basis.

I remember that and was so disappointing in his actions at that time. Trump had been good to him. He did a lot of great things for Israel but evidently he is just another cowardly politician now. I no longer have any respect for him.
This is going to be a disaster. There will be an election within six months.
I'm sure that will work out fine.
I agree. What was Netanyahu to do? Biden was elected and he had to maintain good relations with the chief executive, even if that chief executive is a demented senile old fool whose party openly stole the election.
I would say its more akin to the Kevin McCarthy/Jim Jordan coalition that supported Elise Stefanik for GOP Conference Chair. A group that ranged from hardcore conservatives to squishy moderates, whose only common goal was to get rid of Liz Cheney in the leadership because she was damaged goods.
The past is NOT the present. Obama had nothing to do with the CURRENT results in Israel (and certainly wouldn't haven't had "his people" work to get a guy further RIGHT than Bibi to replace him as PM!)
Bennett's rise as PM is no more Obama's doing than the overthrow of the Taliban in Afghanistan after Sept. 11, 2001 was due to the Soviet Union invading them in the 70s.
It is time for the next generation of Israeli leaders to take the reins. As Gantz said on Sunday to Netanyahu: "Thank you for your contributions, we'll take it from here".
Likud is quite popular. And they could have formed a government in the blink of an eye --- except for Netanyahu.
If Likud wants to regain its position, it needs to vote out Netanyahu as Party leader and bring new leadership to the top.
I see what's just happened in Israel as more similar to the Clinton defeat in 2016. In Israel, a political leader who's been entrenched in the epicenter of the Israeli deep state for 35 years -- 15 as Prime Minister --- is ousted by a group of his throwaways.
No one thought they could do it.
Bibi is now Hillary, promising to "bring down this new government" and "to lead his supporters in battle every day."
Likud removing Netanyahu from the leadership position would be more like the Republicans blocking Trump from a future in politics --- for the good of the Party. Thank heavens we have the final vote :)
bye bye bebe
Well they have an Islamic Arab in their mix now making it interesting. But I’m not convinced Bennett won’t be opposed to Iran as Netanyahu has been. Time wil tell soon enough.
Very good posting.
“..not convinced Bennett won’t be opposed to Iran as Netanyahu has been. “
I’m pretty darn sure that is not possible. Don’t forget Bibi lost a brother at Entebbe. Bibi is absolutely rock solid steadfast standing up against 98/100 (or whatever no) nations who minimally are annoyed with Israel and maximally hate Isreal with the heat of 100 suns.
I think Bibi was precision-calibrated to inflict damage to the other side(s) and quite willing to execute. Now that there are Arabs in the Knesset, there can be no discussion of the ultra secret and surgical operations Mossad has carried out and Israel is known for, and perhaps there never were. Those plans might have always been strictly within arms length of the PM. (Exactly the opposite of how the US operates, but that’s another story) I’m concerned as to the damage that even two spoonfuls of appeasement might cause.
thank you
Yup, this guy sounds soooo liberal:
Bye bye Israel.
“Israeli patriots rose to the occasion.”
You must be a muslim to believe what you have posted here.
Don’t dare for a second think that Obama’s people are not behind the Biden presidency. They are there in force.
Bibi freaked when Trump was robbed. He acted stupidly to welcome the Biden presidency thinking this would somehow placate his enemies in Israel.
Likud is far right to the point that they are loathed by thinking Israelis everywhere. Repeat, Likud is not at all liked in Israel, they are taking advantage of a fractured government to get inside and they will be thrown out in due time because the Israeli people won’t put up with them. Likud is not conservative in principle, they are power lusters willing to start and expand wars to keep their power.
Likud will widen the war ongoing and send Israeli sons and daughters to die senseless deaths.
Donald Trump was the most popular President to Israelis EVER. There has never been an American President more popular among Israelis. Israelis were upset with Netanyahu because he chose to appear to kiss Biden’s a$$. Because he stupidly freaked.
So the past is still influential because it caused Netanyahu to freak and make stupid decisions. Likud is the incidental but unearned beneficiary.
So Bibi was stupid but Americans are no better.
Americans are stuck on stupid thinking 2022 is their time to fight back, NO! There is no time to waste.
Trump will be returned in August 2021 and we will see the fight of our lives.
Those that don’t see we are in a Marxist takedown are fools.
WAKE THE EFF UP!
Follow Pastor Pawlowski, he knows WTF is happening:
https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/headline-news-around-the-world/item/5377-canada-news-arrest-warrant-out-for-polish-pastor-who-kept-his-church-open-during-lockdown
The Pastor has said he is very pro-police but when the police start acting against the people, they are uniformed gangsters, the same he saw in Poland under Soviet rule. When asked how the eff did Canada turn fricking Gestapo, he wasted no time explaining it was due to uncontrolled immigration. People that immigrated to Canada in the past twenty years do not have the values of traditional Canadians so they fall in line with the sh*thole traditions of their country of origin. they think that’s how the world is. Like liberals escaping sh*tholes only to start a new sh*thole in a red area, immigrants to Canada brought their effing sh*thole values to their new country. Sound familiar? Yep, we got it here in spades.
In the meanwhile our Southern Border is under invasion, for real now, not speculation.
The same people Bibi freaked over are hard at work taking down America.
Don’t think for a second that Obama is in the past. He’s very much in the present hiding behind others but scheming nonetheless to let Marxism take over the United States.
It’s happening. You’re a fool if you don’t see it.
If giving carte blanche to the militant gaystapo LGBTQ crowd and enacting taxpayer funded abortion-on-demand (both happened on Bibi's watch and he didn't lift a finger to oppose it) are considered "far right" over there, I'd hate to see what left looks like.
In actually, I would say there are numerous parties in the Knesseet clearly to the right of Likud, including most of Bibi's "coalition partners" like Shas, National Union–Tkuma, United Torah Judiasm, and ironically, Yamina. Contrary to what Bibi claims, Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked have a track record much better than Bibi's and are not "fake right-wingers"
And pathetically, even the Islamofacist wackos in Ra'am are much better on social issues than "conservative" Likud.
I would say that under Bibi, Likud has been about as "conservative" as Mitt Romney, right down to immediately accepting Biden's big "win" and bashing Trump for the capitol "riot".
"Rule"?
In Republics and Democracies, leaders don't (or shouldn't) "rule". We seem to get that idea confused more often than we should...
The Mossad told Bibi that the “fix was in” so I don’t blame Bibi for congratulating Joe Biden. The only alternative Trump had was to start a civil war and he was not going to do that.
