Palace refuses to back Harry and Meghan in dispute over baby Lilibet's name
The Daily Telegraph, via The National Post ^ | Wednesday June 9, 2021 | Gordon Rayner and Victoria Ward

...The Telegraph understands that the Queen was “told” about the name after the baby was born last Friday, rather than her permission being sought in advance. It suggests that if the Duke and Duchess chose the name to curry favour with the Queen and the wider Royal family, the tactic has backfired badly...

Although there is little formal protocol around choosing baby names, particularly with great-grandchildren of the monarch, royal sources suggested there was a difference between the couple choosing to name their daughter Elizabeth, in tribute to the Queen, and using her pet name, which had only been used by her parents, the Duke of Edinburgh and a handful of her closest friends and relatives.

Relations between the Sussexes and the Royal family have become strained after a series of interviews in which the couple levelled accusations of racism, neglect and bad parenting against the House of Windsor.

On a day of extraordinary claim and counterclaim, each side hardened its position rather than making any attempt to agree on a version of events...

On Monday reports in several American publications, including The New York Post, claimed that the Duke had called the Queen and “sought permission before his baby’s birth” to use the name Lilibet.

On Wednesday morning Today on Radio 4 reported that the Queen “was not asked” about using her nickname...

Then, shortly after 8 a.m. — or 1 a.m. in California, where the Sussexes live — the row escalated as Schillings, the London law firm acting on behalf of the Sussexes, issued a warning to media organizations not to repeat the BBC’s claims, which were “false and defamatory.”

Crucially, however, Buckingham Palace refused to deny the BBC’s version of events, meaning the couple’s claims of libel were ignored by the media at large...

You could well be right.

I don’t particularly care how this type of situation plays
out. Some things you can’t overcome.

As long as the queen lives, there is a chance they media may
play up a reconciliation and it turn out.

I’ve seen women and how they will shun a person like that.

I’ve also seen some of them do a 180 if they can get a break
from that very person.

Honestly that drives me crazy.

I’m all for forgive and forget, but generally this happens
with no remorse whatsoever from the guilty party.

Yeah, she’ll surely attempt it.

Queen Elizabeth would have melted her black wings (in the
day).

Not sure she will waste energy on her now.

I knew the name would cause an issue, lol.

And look, twice as much attention as if they had named her Sally or something.

You know, at my age, I really ought to be ashamed for my reaction to her in that dress. But, I’m NOT! I see ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with a man fully enjoying beauty that God has created. Beautiful women are truly God’s best works of art.

I supposed you may know more than I do. I’m an “old fool” who simply views life from the view of comparing decades of experiences to the present and some things get to be predictable. To clear the air... I do NOT wish ANY ill upon Harry, Mehgan or their children. Quite the opposite! I prefer it when a man and a woman find happiness and togetherness, live their lives together, raise children and it is as close to a fairy tale as possible. That is wonderful! IT IS ALSO “RARE”! I’m an old codger. I don’t speak from just my own experiences, but also from my observations. I am NOT rooting for the romance to fail! I hate that! But, I’m old enough and have seen enough to guide me in what to expect about the outcomes of relationships.

I remember the time Dan Rather was interviewing Elizabeth Dole, the head of the American Red Cross and wife of Senator Bob Dole who was then running for President against Bill Clinton. Mrs. Dole is a southerner, and so is Dan Rather; so in an attempt to cozy up to her, he called her by her husband’s term of affection, “Liddy”, on national television. She was totally not pleased and it showed. I imagine he got told off after the program.

Side note: I was never that enthused about Bob Dole, even though I voted for him. But considering that Elizabeth Dole would have been First Lady INSTEAD OF HILLARY, I feel sad in retrospect.

Heck, Meghan Thee Bollocks may have already repealed the 1A in that nitwit cauldron of shiite they call a marriage.

Even before they were married, she refused to "allow" him to go on his family's annual Christmas holiday game shoot (birds) on their own land. He caved.

This woman is all kinds of a hypocrite. Her excuse over the game hunting was animal rights and vegetarianism; out of the other side of her mouth she told the press that she cooked a chicken for Harry for their first date—and check out her gazillion bucks' worth of leather bags, apparel and shoes.

She is often characterized as a malignant narcissist in the comments section of the DailyMail by about 95% of the commoners, who are incensed at her arrogance towards the Crown. Narcs will say anything to get their own way or assert control over their "loved" ones.

Not only did he stop hunting, he sold the heirloom Purdey rifles given to him by his grandfather, so MeGain accomplished a two-fer - separating Halfwit from family and a family event, and getting some cash to put in her pocket.

Queen: Control your wife.

Meghan: You can be replaced, old woman. By me.

Harry: What? I want currant jam for tea.

Holy crap it's exhausting how perpetually offended these two are. There's some serious mental illness going on here manifested by a tremendous sense of self-importance and raw narcissism.

Harry needs someone to slap the feces out of him and tell him to stop being such a whiny bitch...

He acts like someone who's being blackmailed.

Who in the world would do a thing like that to the weakest link?

I notice in the above photo that Harry has already appropriated the name of Jehovah God, "I AM", for his Invictus Games logo, so what's the big deal about stealing from the Queen?

It has nothing to do with gaining favor. They are stealing status for the girl to carry thru her life. And it is a great social conversation for their new friends.

Elizabeth's name of affection amongst her closest loved ones will be trashed and dragged through the tabloids for the rest of the child's life. Just wait until she gets to school, and starts to be called "Lilibutt" and "Liliwhite" by the other kids.

Clearly, you have not been following the details. Consider the evidence: They went through four nannies in a matter of weeks, and five or more staff members resigned from their palace staff due to their behavior, which broke so many employment regulations or common courtesies that a formal HR complaint has been filed against them.

There are hundreds, literally hundreds of examples of petulant Meg and Harry breaking royal protocol and acting against the interests of the royal family or stealthily behind the scenes that have disappointed an angered the British taxpayers.

They hired an American PR team to publicize them as if they are celebrities rather than working royals with established duties and national security guidelines. Completely against Crown protocol, they trademarked their royal titles, opened a web site and designed a bunch of trashy consumer goods like coffee mugs, t-shirts and mouse pads to merchandise their titles, within moments of having extorted a 32 MILLION pound wedding from the British taxpayers ($45 million US dollars). They already had secretly planned to leave UK not only before the wedding, but also before extracting an additional 3 million pounds for a renovation of a house they lived in for a few months before stomping off.

Most Americans do not understans that the British Royal Family and those designated as “working royals” are expected to perform many of the diplomatic and military leadership functions and duties performed by the U.S. Department of State and the Pentagon, as well as social leadership and oversight of the Church of England. The British Crown is responsible for a global strategic alliance of 149 nations of the British Commonwealth.

Being a working royal comes with financial rewards and social privileges in exchange for behaving like top employees of a global corporation. The British military serves and is loyal to the Crown in the same way the American military swears allegiance to the flag and the Constitution. These roles and institutions are called “culture”, and it is not up to Meghan Markle from California to take a wrench to it and start bashing because she snagged someone 6 slots from the top in the line of succession to the throne.

The royal family is constitutionally supposed to remain above politics and not take sides, for the sake not only of the stability of their nation(s), but also their position as allies in NATO. Meghan has tried to make her own rules and impose leftwing American political values onto the Crown by running a popularity contest—thinking that she can set aside the line of succession to the throne established within a 1,000-year-old British system of monarchy and push Harry forward so she can be queen. She has used gossip tabloids to smear members of the royal family and generally set herself at war with them, after having trashed her own family and denied any of them except her mother any access to her or her children. Harry never met with her father or the rest of her family except her mother.

They behave as if they are above any duty, family loyalty or courtesy whatsoever. Their actions border on treason.

The parents should name a child they’ve had. That’s my opinion. You shouldn’t have to ask permission from an external person.

There are some few situations in which a hard-and-fast rule does not apply. Some nations other than ours have rules about naming conventions, enforced by law. Even the state of New Jersey, USA, stepped in to this dispute about a baby name:
