Great Generations - D-Day plus 77

Most Americans today if under age 50 probably aren’t even aware of what happened that day, thanks to the progressive failures and equal ignorance of today’s educators, historians, politicians, and journalists. But as day dawned on June 6, 1944, the eyes and ears, hearts and hopes of the world were on these brave young men . . .
Is there a next Great Generation? The augurs are not good.
We have a woke generation who manifestly hates America. We have organizations (BLM, Antifa) whose purpose is to destroy America. We have media that preaches only the much-exaggerated sins of America. We tolerate policies and lawlessness designed to “fundamentally change” the culture and majesty that is America. We have educators who vilify the founders and history of America. We have political leaders who want mimic the governments and practices of the enemies of America.

I’m working at an USAF base today supporting a flight test. The crew, who are all under 30 years old knew it was D-Day and even though a Sunday, thought it was a good day to fly. Some remember.

I have/had neighbors who fought in WW2. Some still around, others have passed away. Some were comfortable talking about their experiences, others not. They’re pleased that someone born after they reached retirement age, knows and cares about their service.
Most people my age don’t know beans about history. They think the moon is a planet, and they can’t tell time on an old clock. They got diplomas, somehow.

I can't find a single movie with any military theme, let alone just D-Day, throughout the day and night.
FYI, "The Longest Day" is available for free right now on YouTube.

Thanks - I appreciate the link.
Spectrum has a lot of On Demand movies as do other channels like TCM and History Channel.
But the point is they should be airing them now, not me hunting and pecking.

Why would anyone use that word? To confuse? The word is usually not used as a noun. You've probably heard the word used in an idiom that something doesn't augur well.

Have you looked at Spectrum’s “On Demand”? I have it, and have bookmarked “Bridge on the River Kwai” and “Midway”. I am getting ready to watch “The Longest Day” on Amazon Prime.

"If the British (and American) soldiers who went up the beaches of Normandy could see what would become of their people and country, they would not have advanced another 40 yards up the beach." If we would try to put ourselves in the boots of those who serve today I think we would feel a little squeamish.. Maybe a LOT squeamish.. I would rather kiss a duck then give today's young progressives the time of day... And I sure wouldn't risk my neck to save their worthless hide...

1,076,245 American citizens died during WWII by foreign combatants
62,000,000 future ones have died by our OWN hands since then.

... in the oaths our military (and others) still take.I wonder if folks who raft across, swim across, walk across or otherwise sneak across the Rio Grande have to take this oath when wanting 'asylum'?
