Some left-wing Americans are having trouble emerging from coronavirus lockdowns, according to a new report in the Atlantic.
“Progressive communities have been home to some of the fiercest battles over COVID-19 policies, and some liberal policy makers have left scientific evidence behind,” writes reporter Emma Green, who notes that some ordinary Americans of liberal political persuasions have become so committed to lockdowns that they are having trouble returning to normal life.

Data from 32 out of 50 US states has found that the nation’s birth rate in 2020 fell by more than 4%.
In December 2020 alone, California saw 10% fewer births and Hawaii saw 30% fewer than the previous December.
As the US faces a worsening multi-year decline in births, politicians are exploring monthly child benefits and tax credit options.
We're all getting a first-hand look at how a society operates when it's run by people who are always catering to the mindless whims of suburban Karens. Our leaders are invariably going to end up making decisions that are idiotic and irrational ... and they're going to feel completely unaccountable when they fail.
Rip the mask off like a band aid.
Many in my age group (Baby Boomer) seem to be the ones least affected by the fearmongering. We generally go about our normal business and would prefer not to wear a mask at any time.
Of course, there are exceptions in every age group - I'm speaking generally here.
Healthy, not obese young people who are terrified of coronavirus are completely ignorant of mathematics. The most important math that anyone not going into a math/science heavy career path is statistics, especially percentages, not algebra. Who cares if you know that 2x + 3x = 5x but do not understand that having a 99.97%, maybe even a 99.997%, chance of survival even if you catch the C-virus is an almost guaranteed chance of survival.
My mother-in-law got a personal thrill out of being scared of ANYTHING! Radon, Alar, people on the street, any new sickness going around, tornadoes, lightning.
She once said she just knew she was going to be killed by a tornado! She died of old age. She would have loved the current fear of covid.
A virtue signal to be precise, but we already knew that. Underlying this is pure fear and a desperate desire for safety and reassurance, the latter of which is supplied by media campaigns equating obedience with security. I can't feel too sorry for people who have chosen their own chains. Perhaps the extra measure of anxiety will kill them off sooner...
LOL! Yes, there are people who love being scared. I think it gives meaning to their lives...they’re not actually doing anything with their lives, so they try to create an artificial challenge out of “staying alive.” It makes them feel threatened and important.
Liberals are particularly into fear. They’re loving Covid, and if the panic ever ends, they’ll go back to fearing “climate change” or maybe some other artificial peril that Soros and the leftist media dream up.
There is no critical thinking on the Left. Absolutely none.
Whenever I see one of those people who wear a mask while driving or riding a bike or jogging, I think to myself, “When the SHTF they’re going to melt into a puddle of goo. They won’t know what to do to survive.”
So, F ‘em.
They win the Darwin awards and don’t have to deal with them anymore.
Hope they are terrified of ever venturing out again.
Me and my kids went to an out of the way place after church Sunday, hoping for a nice lunch, but it was still takeout only. We weren’t wearing masks and neither were a couple of older people there.
There was, however, a group of 6-8 millennials that were all muffle-talking to each other while they were waiting on their food. Ridiculous.
What strikes me about the new crop of Democrats is that they seem to have completely switched roles. In the 60’s they didn’t trust anything about the government, big corporations - even universities were assumed to be corrupt.
They assumed the “establishment” was corrupt, and sought to pick apart and destroy any authority figure or institution. They hated the CIA, the FBI, the military, the Congress.
Now they seem to be super trusting of Big Government, Big Pharma, the FBI and CIA.
In fact, if you question congress, the FBI, Big Government, Big Pharma or even the Electoral College, they go berserk and call you an insurrectionist.
If you don’t completely trust the government’s untested vaccine, they think you are a moron.
The government is now being run by politicians so corrupt they make Nixon look like a choir boy - yet not a single Woodward & Bernstein to be found.
President Trump really messed them Democrats up good.
I personally think all “progs” should stay indoors for the rest of their worthless lives.
Ill even deliver food to them, but I get the keys to the outside locks.
The public schools have been preparing the kids for JUST this kind of event.
Public schools must never re-open after this year

They have people so terrified of their own shadow, that I think many are going to have a hard time foregoing the masks and other protocols.
The local Hannafords has a sign in their window that says they are REQUIRING masks to be worn. Governor Sununu has relaxed the mask mandate some but someone must have blown them in or they were threatened with hefty fines if they didn’t comply.
There is a decided liberal bent to the musicians that play this kind of music, but at the last rehearsal of my eight-piece traditional jazz band and my four-piece easy listening ensemble, no masks were in evidence.
At the last rehearsal of my 17-piece big band, only one mask was in evidence.
