How does this work? One story I read said there will be 5 Republicans on the ballot, but no other Dems besides Newsom. So he’s guaranteed to be the top vote getter, right?

That actually is a funny observation.
Settle down.. the recall petition only needed to reach 12% of the Cali voter totals. Recent polling has Newsom well-positioned to easily smack down any attempt to unseat him, so the recall drive, while successful in forcing the issue to a referendum, amounts to little more than a protest by an albeit loud, but still very small minority. While your enthusiasm is noted, getting connected with reality would be in order. Dems outnumber GOPers in Cali by 2.5 - 1. Whatever emerges at the top will either be Newsom or someone very similar.

Some report showed up on Chris Salcedo’s Newsmax-TV show claiming that Newsom was looking into scrambling a National Guard F-15 as a means of dispersing lockdown protests last year.
He can’t be gone soon enough.
