On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris on CNN’s “State of the Union” called on lawmakers to pass an “assault weapons ban.”
Anchor Dana Bash said, “More broadly, there have been at least 50 mass shootings in America in a little over a month. Your administration has made clear that infrastructure is the next big legislative priority. Why not guns? Anthony Fauci told me over the weekend that gun violence is a public health emergency.”
Harris said, “Well, I would disagree. We actually, as an administration, have taken action. The president issued executive orders, for example, on ghost guns, and there is only so much, however, that a president can do through executive action. This president, Joe Biden, has a long-standing history of speaking very clearly and unambiguously about the need for smart gun safety laws, back from the time that he was in the Senate through today. But I guess that emphasizes the point that both he when he was in the Senate when I was in the Senate, same thing, we were pushing for legislation. Congress has to act. Because we have to codify, that’s a fancy word for make permanent, make the law, that we agree.”

Yes. Ban the Dems who promote the ban on the right to protect ourselves under the 2nd Amendment. A good ban.
Only way that number would even be close to accurate is if you include all the inner city shootings, like in Chicago, and use the FBI’s official definition that four or more people shot is a mass shooting. Ironically, most of them would have happened in gun free zones and 99% would be with handguns.

“Assault weapon” is a term made up by the media. So you can have a made up ban, Ms. Harris.
So put a mask on your weapon and move on.
The problem there is that they want to make anyone who doesn’t comply with their gun control criminals. Constitutional criminals.
Please define what an assault weapon is. I suspect your definition is any semiautomatic weapon is an assault weapon but you won’t say that till you actually sign an executive order banning them.
As a practical matter, just how would she propose to accomplish this. Trump banning bump stocks was near zero impact as there were so few of them and until the Las Vegas terrorist attack, I bet 99% of Americans had never heard of them, even less owned one. But so-called assault weapons? If we accept that she means ARs and AKs, there are 10s of millions of these. Is she suggesting the government buy them back at $500 to $5,000 each? Is she suggesting we give them up for free? And, again, will she lead the government door-to-door to search for them? This is virtue signally as there is no way to effective ban and collect guns on the scale she proposes.
Easy, it’s got that thing that “goes up”.
