Trump loyalists start ‘America First Caucus’ to promote U.S. as ‘uniquely Anglo-Saxon’

Far-right Republicans in Congress are forming an “America First Caucus” that would promote nativist policies, according to materials outlining the group’s goals first obtained by Punchbowl News.

Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Paul A. Gosar (R-Ariz.) are reportedly behind it, with Reps. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) signed on as early members. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who faces federal and House Ethics Committee investigations over allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, tweeted that he was joining Greene in the caucus.

“We will end wars, stop illegal immigration & promote trade that is fair to American workers,” said Gaetz, who has denied all allegations against him.

A seven-page document that lays out policy positions for the caucus includes nativist language and perpetuates the falsehood that there was widespread fraud and corruption in the 2020 election. According to the document, the group says it seeks to advance former president Donald Trump’s legacy, which means stepping “on some toes” and sacrificing “sacred cows for the good of the American nation.”

as well as from the Greeks (Cicero), and others.
Small nit: Cicero was Roman.

But large point: many of our institutions do come from Rome, way before the time the Angles and Saxons quit painting themselves blue.

I might have gone with “Western” over Anglo-Saxon. That mops in all of them, including the very important Judeo-Christian values.

I didn’t see anything about this being an “Anglo Saxon” caucus, but rather an non-racialist group intended to focus on supporting the foundational ideas of the United States.

They do state that these are Anglos Saxon, although that’s not quite true. I assume they’re referring to the Magna Carta. However, Jefferson and the other foundering fathers were greatly influenced by Classical (Greek and Roman) thought on rights and liberties, and Jefferson is known to have been influenced by the thought of the Spanish Jesuit Suarez (who defended the right of a people to overthrow and even kill a tyrant). So I’d call the ideas European rather than solely Anglo Saxon.

Essentially, this caucus is to support the concepts expressed in English by the Founding Fathers and to defend the fact that these ideas are the true basis of American society and political practice. Race has nothing to do with it, but of course, the Washington Post (where the article appears) and the various hysterical race-baiting critics know that perfectly well.

“We will work
towards an end to mail-in voting, implementation of national voter ID”

Bad. Idea.

A national ID will morph into something required for EVERYTHING, including “benefits.” It will be used to track people, and as a social score, mark my words. You will need it to board planes, buy a house, open a checking account, and sign up for facebook.

Bad, bad idea.

Still, conservatives should base their alliances on values, not on race. We can have Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Colonel West and Sheriff Clarke. They can have white Antifa boys.

The America First name is 100% real and should be unobjectionable to any real American. Now, WaPo chose to amplify one small part of the seven-page founding document, but yes, the Anglo-Saxon bit is in there. It is in fact critical that Conservatives have the balls to fight against the anti-white sentiment coming from the Left and they must oppose the American Taliban and its attempt to cancel western civilization and history, but at the same time it should avoid oversimplifying American history and unnecessarily offending people in the big Trump tent. It’s not the document I would have written, that’s for sure.

Okay, spot the lies in the story. Also, spot the spin.

They bring up the baseless allegations against Gaetz. They imply it’s a racist caucus. And what’s up with “Anglo-saxon” in quotes?

We have a national ID already. It’s Social Security. The camel’s nose has been in the tent for decades.

Think the real roots may have been implemented in America primarily by Anglo Saxons, but the real roots are those of Western Civilization. The West has had contributors from many ethnicities and races. The Western Canon is open to all. These pols sèm ignorant and narrow in their vision of their own country.

Since the U.K is still around then how can we be ‘uniquely Anglo-Saxon’?

The United States was founded based on an amalgamation of philosophies that can be traced back to the Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews.

It’s primarily Mediterranean mixed with a little Anglo-Saxon.

And no, I do not see a difference between the headline or the real quote.

Big difference for most people. The headline implies racial or ethnic composition. The quote refers to cultural and political traditions. But most people won't be aware of the actual quote.

I can see where McCarthy's coming from. The more caucuses there are the more opportunity for them to go wild and pull the party apart. I'm not saying his way is the right way, but there's potential for Matt Gaetz to pull just about anything down with him when he goes down.
